Saudi Arabia is the ally that matters to neocon logic because they're the only force there that can check Iranian power without dragging us into war when they do. Honestly makes sense if you look at it that way yeah.

wow https://twitter.com/carolecadwalla/status/1066468157173444609 quote:Damian Collins, the chair of the culture, media and sport select committee, invoked a rare parliamentary mechanism to compel the founder of a US software company, Six4Three, to hand over the documents during a business trip to London. In another exceptional move, parliament sent a serjeant at arms to his hotel with a final warning and a two-hour deadline to comply with its order. When the software firm founder failed to do so, it’s understood he was escorted to parliament. He was told he risked fines and even imprisonment if he didn’t hand over the documents.

Maybe we wouldn’t have put an open rapist on the court, but whatever judges were chosen would be equally as bad in rulings. I think actually everything would be worse. There wouldn’t even be a token media pushback against the neocon agenda. Probably no Women’s March being the largest protest in US history. No leftward shift of the Overton window. No mass awakening of Millennials learning they need to loving vote and get involved. Hillary probably would have been crushed by a GOP standard issue ghoul and not even won the popular vote. As lovely as these times are, I’m glad it’s not another Republican in the WH more competently loving America.

I'm pretty indifferent on whether RBG gives the turtle another seat or not. The entire institution is already turbo-hell-hosed for decades as is, really not going to shift the course of the nation. Either dems find a loving spine and pack the court to fix poo poo or the entire supreme court is just something to be written off as hopeless.

In that brief there is a lot of stuff about the law in question but the section I quoted from can be summarized as "don't flippantly gently caress with the privacy rights of the citizens of other countries because their governments take that poo poo extremely seriously, are justified in doing so, and will retaliate hard". I just found it amusing that Facebook signed onto something that rightfully identified messing with the privacy of foreign citizens as a dangerous rake on the ground only to stomp on that rake a few months later.

RBG was 75 in 2008. that she didnt resign when dems controlled everything was just arrogance on her part. a 60 year old justice has the luxury of waiting around 10-15 years for the president and senate to flip to their party, a 75 year old should immediately jump when they have the chance.
