The only worrying a traditional family values conservative is doing over the party's descent into open woman-hating is worrying over how to make it illegal for women to vote.

That's a good point that it was specifically intended as a gently caress you to women. I think that's a more accurate analysis than the popular idea that they wanted someone who would defend sexual abusers. The amount of rage towards women in the young conservative/mra/incel world is completely insane and I think largely flies under the radar to most men. Like we live in a racist af society, but I see far more misogyny on a daily basis than racism. Young men and lonely old guys are really, really loving bitter.
