That actually seems like something the Italians would do. They need to apply drastic punishments because of unforgivable failures, but they know they can't hire anyone better. So they just go through the motions of axing someone and publicly denouncing them and then hire them back the next day. Big press releases about how it's a new dawn for the venerable company and we will march into the future under a proud new banner etc. etc.

Wehrlein is a very methodical and intelligent driver, with some good wheel-to-wheel race craft. It would be interesting to see what he can do with a decent F1 car. I think he'd might give guys like Hulkenberg, Grosjean or Bottas a run for their money, with a really good (top four teams) car I think his clean and strategic way of driving might even net him a podium. He burned some bridges with Mercedes last year, and getting pitted against drivers like Da Costa in Formula E (which I also rank rather highly) puts a lot of stress on him if he ever wants to get back to F1. I'm looking forward to see what he does this weekend in FE.
