Naw, scrip gear is pretty bad. Some of it looks cool though. You mainly use red scrip for materia/crafter souls and yellow scrip for mats for high end crafting. High end gathering mostly revolves around hitting timed nodes that show up at specific times during the Eorzean day, usually about once an hour, maybe twice depending on where you are at.

Are those nodes shared with other players? My guess would be no, since other gathering nodes don't appear to be (and I really hope that's correct).

How does this crafter soul stuff work? I googled it and it's not entirely clear; it mentions up to three specializations, but then says you can keep getting them.

So I'm reading that these scrips from Custom Deliveries can be used to purchase crafter/gatherer gear. Is this the main one gear is acquired at max level? I had previously assumed that you just had to manually create progressive levels of gear (enabling you to craft even higher levels, etc).

That is more or less how it tends to go, but yellow scrip can get you level 70 gear that's Good Enough for most stuff; HQ crafted, fully overmelded gear is the best, but if you don't plan on doing lots of endgame crafting, or don't want to deal with overmelding, or want some better gear to help you manage to craft the best HQ crafted gear by yourself (though if you're in a goon FC or otherwise have crafter friends, don't do this, get help obtaining the crafted stuff), then the yellow scrip gear is fine. The actually decent yellow scrip gear takes a ton of yellow scrip, though.

You can have three at once, but you can switch them out a certain number of times (3?) a week by buying another with red scrip. Some recipes are specialist-only, and being a specialist gives you some powerful actions to use while on that class.

If you're a casual crafter the only reason not to get yellow scrip gear is because it splits up into all the individual crafting classes.
That's a heck of a lot of gear to keep in your armory chest.

The mainhands, offhands and accessories are pretty boss though. My old upgraded gobbo stuff kept me going until level 68 (and the accessories lasted longer because delicious cp/gp.)

Most endgame recipes are no longer specialist only (there's a few housing or glam items as exceptions) and I'd argue that the 20cp you get at the start of a craft as a specialist is worth way more then the finicky actions it gives you.

Reflection giving you a free +3 stacks of Inner Quiet is super good as well.

They are not. Special Nodes are your own even if another player is striking at the same spot. Just remember some of them are an in-game hour long and to book it there to get the materials.

I've been using https://www.ffxivguild.com as help for the best ways to level up crafting and gathering through which leves give the best exp for time/gil, but I wanted to ask other goons first if it's a good site to recommend?

I was mostly thinking of Reflection, starting with an extra three stacks is great. WWYW is supposedly pretty great, too, though that's obviously only for manual stuff. Though I do agree, the extra cp is fantastic and definitely worth more than most of the specialist actions!

I use the same site, though mostly just for looking up where gathering levequests are and what the turn-ins are for the next job quest.

I've just been doing the beast tribe and GC turn-ins (no crafting leves), since the whole process of doing all of that takes over an hour (I craft all prereqs and always in HQ, which may take more time but gives good xp), which is usually all I want to spend on crafting for the day. This gets me an average of about 1/2 a level on every crafting class a day (not counting the 1/2 level boost from the job quest every 5 levels). Gathering has been so easy to level through a combination of GC turn-ins and leves that it hasn't been an issue yet (even at my currently gathering level of ~45, I can get like 2+ levels in less than an hour if I use the GC XP buffs items while doing leves).

I seriously can't imagine just leveling a single crafting class unless you did nothing but beast tribe quests. Not only would you not have access to various important abilties that are core parts of my rotations, but I would be incapable of crafting HQ intermediate materials (which are often only on the MB for really high prices, if they're on the MB at all). It also kinda defeats the whole purpose; you wouldn't be able to craft anything terribly useful by yourself. Culinarian is the only one that stands alone fairly well.

That's right. The 350 yellow scrip gear is shared landking/handking armor and accessories. It obviously doesn't compete with pentamelded HQ gear, but to someone who doesn't plan on HQ-crafting level 70 items, the yellow scrip gear is good enough(TM), makes collectibles way easier (than eg. the level 70 NQ whites) and doesn't really take effort to get, just time - with custom deliveries giving 1500-2000 yellow scrip per week, that's only 1 MH tool (or body armor/legs) per week. Beyond that you'd have to grind regular collectibles which is... not fun. But you can eg. get the accessories for a quick start (they're cheap) and get crafted tools or armor off the MB/off crafter friends.

pretty much usually just typos and minor errors being fixed up, and new crafting recipes are usually withheld too until the servers go down. There were no prelim ones this time because people were out of office.

There are some unofficial reporting and cosmetic mods, but realtalk: don't mention them in-game, not even in jest or implication.

Komi-san won.
ACT is basically mandatory if you want to do high-end content like Savage raids and Ultimate fights, and Square will turn a blind eye to it unless you use it to harass other people. Basically, don't ever bring up, say, how bad someone's DPS is in-game and you'll be fine.

Here's a good guide for getting the basics you'd need from ACT set up, if you didn't already see it.

ACT is very useful if you want to improve your play. As long as you don't harass other players in game you won't ever get banned for it.

The 14 modding community mostly don't upload to the nexus. They have an archive site of their own where everything ends up. It's fun but the main points of notice are that everything is just cosmetic and that mods, like act, are against the rules. Just don't talk about them in game and SE usually won't care.

Yeah, a JP player posted some screenshots of their character that was modded to be naked and a JP GM sent them a message telling them to knock it off. After a bit of back and forth the GM said SE will turn a blind eye to most mods, so long as the people posting them remove the SE copyright notice, as leaving it there implies that someone can do that in game, which they can't.
