TrilliontonNixon posted:Alright this is pretty hosed up. If you want to do campaign work then just say so, don't loving deceive people who are focused on doing other work. Thats what I don’t like about all this. It’s not necessarily about policy disagreements, it’s how blatantly they seem to want to subsume DSA into being beholden to the Jacobin writing staff and their buddies without meaningful democratic input. If they want to argue for going all in on Bernie 2020 then do that, but reorganizing the chapters so dissenters don’t even get a say is lame.

Quick, someone quote Mao Zedong to prove that it's the 18th kind of liberalism to not want your socialist org to pull the Dem Party NGO front stunt of folding an issue campaign into a candidate's run for office.

You can do more than one thing at once. Especially when you get more people to do more things. Also lol @ people calling it "Momentum's Secret Plan" as if there's some sort of East Bay Illuminati made up of the 6 Jewish Cops that are plotting to establish a New DSA Order

The point of pouring members and resources into the Bernie 2020 campaign is to turn some of millions of volunteers and supporters into socialists. It makes sense to fold M4A into it because M4A as a standalone isn't going to be as effective or meaningful when Kamala Harris, Beto O'Rourke, Kristin Gilibrand, and Joe Biden are all saying they're going to pass "a Medicare for all plan" (not actually Medicare for all, and definitely won't get any real effort after they're elected)

Also I'm not sure what's so sinister about them wanting to take power, that's literally the point of politics and forming ideological caucuses, are we pretending that the other caucuses don't want themselves/their allied tendencies controlling the future of the DSA?
