Somebody fill me in on what Children of Bodom were doing between Are You Dead Yet (which I enjoyed) and now. I think I checked some stuff out but it sucked hard. Am I misremembering? I saw them with Amon Amarth back in like 2006, it was awesome.

CoB, Amon Amarth and Trivium right? Saw that tour in Philly. but yeah the last few CoB albums were fairly meh. AYDY had some great tracks but kind of signalled a different direction, and this new track hits right back home IMO. e: also they very recently lost their first founding member, the backup guitarist, but the new guy is good as you can hear

The riffs/vocals/lyrics/drums/production are as good as it gets for the genre. I never get sick of them like other bands I like. No idea why but they just hit the spot perfectly.

For some reason I've noticed that Windhand is a really polarizing band, even for the genre. I've noticed similarly polarized stances with Baroness, and Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats.

I may check Windhand live this weekend as they're playing a free show and the support is solid. I've given the new one a couple spins and all I can say is "meh". Perhaps the live experience will change my mind
