Both Yob and Windhand are incredibly overrated.

This however is high art.

Somebody fill me in on what Children of Bodom were doing between Are You Dead Yet (which I enjoyed) and now. I think I checked some stuff out but it sucked hard. Am I misremembering?

I saw them with Amon Amarth back in like 2006, it was awesome.

CoB, Amon Amarth and Trivium right? Saw that tour in Philly.

but yeah the last few CoB albums were fairly meh. AYDY had some great tracks but kind of signalled a different direction, and this new track hits right back home IMO.

e: also they very recently lost their first founding member, the backup guitarist, but the new guy is good as you can hear

Awesome :D I’ve been listening to the old albums lately and all the memories come right back. CoB got me through a lot of high school bullshit and kept me focused on guitar while everything else was such a mess.

My favorite doom band by quite a bit. They’re never going to completely blow your mind with something new and crazy but no one sounds like them. They have exactly what I want from doom. The riffs/vocals/lyrics/drums/production are as good as it gets for the genre. I never get sick of them like other bands I like. No idea why but they just hit the spot perfectly.

For some reason I've noticed that Windhand is a really polarizing band, even for the genre. I've noticed similarly polarized stances with Baroness, and Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats.

I may check Windhand live this weekend as they're playing a free show and the support is solid. I've given the new one a couple spins and all I can say is "meh".

Perhaps the live experience will change my mind

Worcester for me, and it was my first concert. A drunk dude there told me to check out Nile, so I went home and found "The Black Hand of Set" and it was all over from there.

I didn't really like Trivium back then, but I'm kinda getting into their new stuff. Matt's a super nice dude, too. Definitely enjoying some of the new stuff from CoB too.

Whoever said to put more Windhand on the playlist, good call. Threw some old Sabbath on too, I think.

I'm p proud of the name of the playlist, too. :v:

I'm not sure if he's totally sober/clean but I know he either stopped or significantly cut back on drugs/booze because he realized he was becoming an arrogant douche. I want to say his wakeup call was getting so drunk he slid down a bowling lane and broke his wrist?

Lol there's no way that was a wake-up call because he broke his wrist right when they started to suck and it's been nearly 14 years since then

I have said it before but you guys are the only “deathcore” band I’ve ever enjoyed. I’m running through my 2004 albums right now (don’t ask) and am gonna hit the debut in the next couple of days.
