Yeah, I really like Baldesion. It's genuinely more fun than the raids.

Only complaint about Hydratos is no one else is helping spawn the NM fates, instead just camping sprite island and the bunny fate. Geralt hungers for crystals and I'm only one giraffe.

You have the odd chance of getting the trade tokens from every chest in BA (just that it's higher from Raiden/AV and guaranteed from Ozma). They're for an i300 piece that is better than the shared Elemental+2 slot piece for Eureka specifically. Physical DPS/Tanks only have a chest piece to trade for (2 cryptic seals), Magic DPS/Healers have a hooded cowl which is head+chest (3 damascene cloth). If you somehow get far enough regularly enough to have enough Eureka fragments to upgrade everything else that aren't those (including your weapon) and still don't have tokens then knock yourself out, but in general you can expect to see your Kirin/Vermillion equipment piece before you have a full set of Elemental+2.

Does anyone know why this is grayed out for me? I leveled to 50 as Bard and didn't realize there was an option to see only my debuffs, but I can't seem to toggle it. I'm probably missing something obvious.

Day two in Eureka Pagos: the exp buff is nice, but this is still awful. Hit level 29, and the chokepoint to the north part of the zone is still the worst idea ever. Can confirm PhD is required to finish Pagos. Blame Fenra.

The only reason to go near that area is for King Igloo, and you just run from Geothermal for that.

[Edit] To clarify I did a bit of leveling when Pagos was current/a bit of challenge log recently to try and get past 25, which would get me access to all of the aetheryte there. However, not everyone coming into Pagos does that and the experience for players new to the zone is awful, especially with all of the NMs the train heads to which require a drop from the northern part of the zone. The single chokepoint being gated, even behind level 25, is still horrible, despite your Stockholm syndrome. MadFriarAvelyn fucked around with this message at 06:17 on Feb 18, 2019 |

I have a very specific mechanical question: at which distance does it become faster to ride your chocobo, despite the summoning time, than run somewhere? What about to sprint? edit: When will I ever use Deep Vigor? On mining nodes that give five chances, you can only get Chain #4 on the last hit. Chain #1 doesn't start until you get two in a row.

FactsAreUseless posted:I can't imagine it can be more than like 10 yalms tops, I was just curious if anyone had calculated it. I mean, we could set up a test in one of the zones. Someone running normally. Someone using sprint. someone with a mount at normal speed. someone with mount at 1*. someone with mount at 2* then have a footrace and see how long it takes people to overtake each other.

FactsAreUseless posted:I can't imagine it can be more than like 10 yalms tops, I was just curious if anyone had calculated it. It's hard to give distances since I don't think the game ever specifies any exact speeds. I think the relative numbers are 130% of runspeed for sprint, 200% for base mounts and 250% for 2-star. If someone knows better then please correct me. Anyhow, with that in mind you can at least say that if it takes more than twice as long to run somewhere than it does to summon a mount then you should've summoned a mount. Mounts take a second to summon, so very roughly speaking you should mount if it takes longer than 2 seconds to run there. There's a big caveat here in that it takes a second or two extra for the mount buff to actually apply after you summon and before then you run at normal speed, and the exact delay is very dependent on your latency and how good you are at slidecasting your mount. Ultimately the limiting factor is more going to be if you can be arsed to press the mount button and wait for the bar to fill for a 5 second run than anything else.

That's the real measure. If getting to where you want to go is going to take you longer than a single sprint, a mount is going to get you there faster. Period.

Extra grinded mats can be sold to other broke brains leveling crafting for sometimes stupid prices, used for crafting achievements , or used to make junk to level desynth.

When, if ever, should I be wearing DoW/DoM gear as a gatherer? I don't have enough strength to get the +1 gathering attempt at a higher-level node, should I be sacrificing some gathering for main stats, or am I just too low-level?

I haven't ever used non-gathering gear while gathering. Eventually past AAR the bonuses I THINK go straight to your perception and gathering only. No strength or int or some other whacky stuff.

I don't have enough strength to get the +1 gathering attempt at a higher-level node, should I be sacrificing some gathering for main stats, or am I just too low-level? Actual gathering stats start to matter around 30-50+(at that point you simply can't wear DoW/M stuff anymore because "all classes" gear stops existing), the extra GP from accessories is always useful though. A set of new HQ gear at the start of each expansion lasts a good while if grinding levels and there are lots of low level things to just grind on with that gear that are used by the hundreds for crafting leve turn ins like beech wood. I don't mess with the collectibles much so I don't know how on the dot gear needs to be for that method but I assume you want to keep up in gear level with what you are trying to collect. If it feels like its time for new gear, it probably is. Accessories can be pricey and give very small increases to GP so go slower on replacing those than on the left side. Don't worry about materia until much later.
