See pretty much every person who sells all their stuff in anticipation of the end of the world, and the world doesn't end. For the majority, sunk cost fallacy means that they have to believe in the next prediction of the end of the world even harder, or turn inward to face their own massive failure.

They might say she was arrested, but it wasn't publicized because of the deep state/pedos/etc., so they'd want their money back.
