Goddamnit I accepted another job in Atlanta instead of making my way out of this rear end in a top hat state full of poo poo people. Feinne posted:poo poo we're thinking too small on that whole VP/McConnell/Chief Justice flight, they're already on to discussing mandatory human centipede operations for LGBTQ people. Color me surprised that the GOP decided to go after women whole-hog versus attacking the LGBTQ community first. I was really expecting an announcement like the GOP pushing states to annul all same-sex marriages and force transgender people to use (and display) the gender listed on their birth certificate, or some sort of horrible torture on the same-level as forcing women to carry a rape baby to term and to take care of said baby for life.

Owlofcreamcheese posted:Like, personal evaluations of specific individuals makes sense. Some people are just awful or jerks, and know better and are still awful and are personally culpable for their awfulness but when you are talking about large groups or countries or cultures or whatever it is useful to look past that and ask why people think things instead of just going "I'm good, they are bad, sad really". Like much of the middle east has homophobic laws and the attitude is common but it's possible to think about how and why that is beyond "guess most arabs are just inferior to me and bad, simple as that" and actually look at the history and reasons and conditions and think about why people think things beyond just "they all decided to be not as good as me". I think I can safely say that the people who persecuted my gay Arab and Turkish and Malay friends are bad people, OP E: "Just look at it from the Emmet-Till-lynchers point of view, black people are scary!"

skylined! posted:https://twitter.com/PpollingNumbers/status/1128713469220597760 Keeping all primary chat aside, I found it interesting that when you look at some of the survey breakdowns (is that what Crosstabs are?) there were people who favored Sanders and Warren in terms of policy, but would still rather vote for Biden. Is this some manifestation of "we have to beat Trump no matter what" and feel that Warren or Sanders are too weak? I find it odd that people would prefer one person's policy, but then decide to vote for someone else. Though voting against your interests seems to be an American tradition at this point.
