It'd be interesting to make a graph of when Americans quit taking Trump seriously. For me, I think it was the Apprentice, the fact he was doing that show to me made it clear he was just a clown.

My earliest memory of the Trump name was standing outside his tower and looking up while on a vacation to NYC (this would have been....87? 88? Something like that) and I remember one of my parents saying something about how trump was a self made man and a great businessman. This was "common knowledge" back then. That facade was completely blown out of the water when he went belly up in the 90's. Then he started doing Pizza Hut commercials and selling steaks which cemented himself in my mind as a huckster and a fraud. I never watched a single episode of The Apprentice because his whole schtick was obnoxious to me. My guess is most of the people who support him now have no idea about what he did pre-Apprentice, only that he must be a great businessman because he has a tower in NYC named after him.

Nah. They changed the name to that almost 50 years after the massacre, it’s in honor of it lol. The California Genocide was nuts.

I don’t know how long it’d been there but the marker placed on the land by the Sons of the Golden West had red paint splattered all over it when I was there a few days ago (rightly so, as it calls it a battle. Bayonetting children isn’t a battle). The parks service marker along 20 does a better job.

I wouldn’t say it’s for everyone but the history of the area is very interesting and good to know. Plus whoever is being placed near there can be beside a volcano put at extreme risk by usgs. That said Konocti is very pretty.

Chris has gotten genuinely angry any time someone suggested Trump may be actually a lovely guy or bigoted or whatever, including getting downright emotional when Shep very weakly said that maybe the guy who sent pipe bombs to Trump's enemies, who had a van covered in Trump bullshit, may have been inspired by Trump's rhetoric because he intentionally creates these all powerful evil enemies out of anyone he dislikes.

Brit has spent the last two years simpering and making any excuse he could for Trump while asking anyone to the left of The Ghost of Ronald Reagan 'hmmm but isn't it true you're a dirty commie who hates America?'

It figures they only now care about his rhetoric when it hits them. I hope they all become a fresh target for CHUD Rage, it'll be funny as gently caress.

"The Week" is disturbed:

"Why white supremacist terrorism is surging"

"This year, there's been a horrifying spate of killings driven by racial and anti-Semitic hate. In February, prosecutors said, a white Coast Guard lieutenant in Maryland stockpiled an arsenal of weapons and researched how to get access to Democratic lawmakers, liberal Supreme Court justices, and TV journalists; the alleged perpetrator had also done an internet search for "white homeland" and "when are whites going to wake up." In April, the 21-year-old son of a deputy sheriff was charged with burning down three black churches in Louisiana. Later that month, a white man shot up a synagogue in Poway, California, after posting a manifesto online that said "Every Jew is responsible for the meticulously planned genocide of the European race." He cited as among his inspirations the white supremacist who in March killed 51 Muslims in Christchurch, New Zealand. President Trump has downplayed white supremacist killing sprees as the work of a few bad apples — "a small group of people." But the FBI says otherwise, announcing last week that it has 850 ongoing investigations into possible domestic terrorists, including both anti-government and white supremacist individuals and groups."
