If I’m playing a caster, I put my instant abilities on the face buttons and cast abilities on the dpad. This aligns my thumbs so that I don’t move during cast abilities.

It takes a few hours to build muscle memory for controller so just pick up a new class (so you have fewer buttons) and play for a session or two. After that controller should feel great.

Unfortunately I have no low level jobs so I think several sessions of dungeon spam is my best bet. Hopefully getting used to controller on one job will lend itself on others

yep adapting to controller is purely a question of time, practice, and dumb pratfalls in dungeons, I'm afraid

that said IMO controller > keyboard once you learn it, but that's just one dork's opinion

My friend who plays Monk (I donno how accurate they are) seems to think that Greased Lightning will be for more damage over time but Riddle of Fire/Fist of Fire is what you swap into for doing a lot of damage in a short period of time. (Trick attack/etc)

Man, there’s some upset minds in this thread.

How’s that skill crunch going, anyway? One of the things that I’m really hoping to see in this expansion was pruning away some keybinds, ideally with more skills being made to automatically swap to other skills based on context. It looks like that’s happening with tanks for sure, but how about DPS?

Sounds like the Riddles work regardless of what Fist you're in as long as you don't switch between them while the buff is up

That could be a relief unless it just means that you can't get the lucky drops anymore, you have to grind (x) weeks of it to get the equips.

if everything's a coffer, it's nice but also potentially really boring

especially if you're in a static that has defined loot lists for generic drops (e.g. who gets the first oil/sand/tomestone/weapon coffer/etc), this means those groups are likely going to end up running such that certain classes (likely healers, at least it was in my old static) always get their items last. which might kinda suck

I guess we'll get clarification later, but it sounds like gear will be working like the weapon coffers which has it's pros and cons, statics will benefit alot, though PF farms will be 8 people rolling on a drop every time now.

Depends on what you play. Sam more or less unchanged, tanks seem to have lost a decent chunk. Most of the culling seems to have happened in role skills.

Most of the influencers Ive seen with actual Monk experience are thinking that FoW comes out ahead when you hit GL4 as the haste effect puts it just a little ahead while keeping the same damage buff as GL3 FoF. Riddle of Fire/FoF might be good for short burst phases like your opener but I think a few of them are assuming you'll want to spend the majority of your time in FoW for GL4.

I am going to level scholar first again for the second expansion in a row because the core fantasy of scholar is DATABASE DATABASE WE'RE LIVING IN THE DATABASE OH OH and pushing up your glasses IRL when you negate a huge damage spike via preparation and prediction, which you can still do with spread critlo and fairy shields stacked so I'm fuckin ready to go boys

when did they drop the level 60 job skip things in stormblood? I don't remember if it was at launch or slightly afterwards, but I seem to remember it being the former. Friend has one job leveled and might be interested in playing something else in ShB without needing to get it caught up to 70.

Hey doom-and-gloomers, please don't forget that the abilities and numbers are subject to change on the final release! Also if you're convinced your favorite job is now garbage and you don't want to play it anymore, this is a great time to try something new!

It's gonna be cool as heck though because Rapid Fire is now baked into the Overheat-only abilites; Heat Blast and Auto Crossbow both have 1.5s recast. Also, Auto Crossbow's tooltip says it "does not share a recast timer with any other actions". That means while overheated you'll be wailing on Heat Blast and Auto Crossbow repeatedly while recharging your other abilities, and both of them should count for Wildfire potency. That's :krad:

Okay, that's enough fantasizing about things you basically had to imagine all the hard data about.

Instead, we're going to talk about which of our NPC friends should kiss which of our other friends! We will continue to talk about this until the balance talk comes to an end.

Okay, so, I know most people favor the "official" ship which is Alphinaud/Estinien, but I think that Alphinaud/Thancred is heavily underrated. Just consider! Thancred is the only member of the cast whose essential dignity is low enough to allow Alphinaud to dunk on him, which sets up a huge number of possibilities. For this reason, they should make out, especially after Alphinaud returns from the First with his art upgrade and is eleven feet tall.

Oh, and they should let the thirsty Scion have her threesome. It's 2019; this would ultimately be the bravest possible course.

The ACB/Anchor tooltips are slightly misleading. They still go on GCD when other weaponskills are used, so Heat Blast x6 is best practice for Overcharge.

Maybe I'll check out new SMN, that might scratch my itch. Will still give new MCH a try because keyboard slamming is fun in its own right, but it's not what I enjoy about current MCH.
