Man who would have thought that choosing to go with a piece of software sold by people with near infinite money and near zero development experience would be a bad idea. I’m shocked, really.

Colostomy Bag posted:"physicalized elevators" I was worried for a moment that elevators would be a simple scene change, and not physicalized. They're free of the tyranny of a block layout building, but I'm assuming there's a completely normal and 'in-universe' explanation for the skyhooks holding the elevator up. That surprise spin would be fun to experience.

I like how it does the turn and the 30 degree slope move. I'm still chuckling over "physicalized". Sounds like something president Bush would come up with back in the day.

As far as I can tell, this mechanism is completely hidden from players. You could teleport the thing after a short delay and it'd look exactly the same from a player's perspective, inside or out? I wonder how many man hours they've spent on this complete waste of loving time? tooterfish fucked around with this message at 16:02 on Jun 18, 2019 |

It's so amazing that they're introducing even more problems trying to solve a problem they created. Just, like, give everyone their own magic pocket dimension hangar, it's fine. It's a video game.

Correct me if my understanding of physics is somewhat less than the Crobbler, but if you were standing in an elevator that suddenly spun around, wouldn't your legs twist and you'd lose balance and fall on your rear end?

It's a video game. To be honest, this whole debacle will eventually someday end up as a case study that students will write about for years. The reason this type of poo poo keeps being produced is because a total lack of focus and is overseen by a detailed driven megalomaniac that globe trotts around the world. I mean imagine, you are some random artist type guy that somehow has to earn a paycheck. Then he is talking with with some poor animator that has no direction on what the gently caress to do. End result: "Let's crank this out to make it look we did something." A lot of us a couple years past have sort of posted our endgame timeframe. I conjectured they had years left in the tank. But this poo poo chugging train from hell keeps on chugging.

Scruffpuff posted:Correct me if my understanding of physics is somewhat less than the Crobbler, but if you were standing in an elevator that suddenly spun around, wouldn't your legs twist and you'd lose balance and fall on your rear end? Depends on the speed it happened. If slow enough you might not even notice. At a bit faster speed you might get some sensation in your head or stomach. If faster still, then yes, your muscles would have to work against the rotation, and if really strong, or you're not prepared for it, you could end up on your rear end. Also your location within the lift in relation to the center of it would affect you differently. Basically CIG should put more effort into this and ensure the physics work correctly, possibly also inducing barfing for those characters who are sensitive to such things. I'm sure they could have Tier 0 motion sickness implemented within 5-6 years.
