I'm guessing "well off city girl making GBS threads on the country bumpkin friends." But it's also pretty weird that one of the friends is his ex and they keep inviting him without her - and he keeps going.

The passive agressive solution to these lazy guys is to make NOT contributing more work than changing your kid's goddamn diaper. They can spend 5 minutes changing a baby or spend 2 hours arguing with their spouse about it.

No, he just ignores the baby when she cries. I imagine more than once my friend has told him it's his turn, and he just rolls over and sleeps, knowing she will eventually do it if he doesn't. Same thing in regards to diapers, laundry, etc. He refuses to be left home with her either. Kid is barely four, five months old. I can't wait till she starts crawling or walking.

I[m26] just found out that my girlfriend[f26] of 6.5 years has been cheating on me since June Infidelity
submitted 23 hours ago by MasterMirror92

quote:

TL:DR Just found out while on a trip that my girlfriend has been cheating on me for months. I feel lost and overwhelmed, don't know how to stop thinking about this and get through the next few days.

Obligatory English isn't my first language, my apologies if there are spelling or grammatical errors.

This is about my college sweetheart who I met about 8 years ago and was in a relationship with for the past 6.5 years. We've had our difficulties while being long distance for a couple of years in between, but everything seemed great starting February this year when we moved to the same city.

Cut to this weekend, we decided to go on a trip. She seemed weirdly distant the whole time yesterday and was spending a lot of time texting on her phone. I assumed it was work related until I accidentally saw some suspicious smileys on a WhatsApp chat. I still ignored it and didn't confront her about it, but it bothered me until I decided to check her phone today morning.

Turns out she was seeing this other guy since June, and this didn't start off by accident, it began with a date and then led to plenty of meetups and staying over at her place. We didn't move in together yet because relationships are frowned upon in our culture and the families didn't know. I ended up reading through a lot of sexually explicit messages, which was very hard to do and is something I can't unsee.

Anyway so I just packed my stuff up, left the hotel and booked a flight back home. She called me a couple hours after I'd left (when she woke up). I picked up, and she started berating me for leaving without at least staying back to talk about it first. Then she kept repeating that she was sorry and that it was just one mistake, but I know that it had been going on for quite a while now. I also sent a courtesy message to the other guy she was seeing letting him know about this because it didn't seem like he knew either.

Now I'm just at the airport waiting for my flight which is in a couple of hours. I was able to calm my self down after talking to a couple of friends, and feel ready to pick up the pieces and move on. From my perspective, I feel like there is nothing I could have done to see this coming or change any of this, because I have always been open to feedback and supportive of her. I don't know what her grievance was with our relationship but I feel betrayed that despite knowing me for so long and having been through so much poo poo together, she did something like this instead of just talking to me.

I'm planning to consult a therapist and work through any issues that may potentially arise from this black swan event in my life. I'm very nervous about having to enter the dating pool again because I have mild social anxiety which has just gotten worse since I moved to the US from a different country/culture.

I tried my best to not act out of anger/spite throughout the few hours I have been subject to this news. Did I handle this situation okay? My friend thinks I shouldn't have contacted the other guy.
I have also recently been sort of depressed and I'm worried about the impact this will have on my mind. Obviously I'm finding it vey hard to cope with all this new information right now and I feel quite overwhelmed. I just can't get the sexual stuff that I read out of my mind. Redditors who have dealt with this before, how do I get through the first few days?

That friends one is bizarre. It's like a movie where the op is dead, she is "the ex girlfriend in the group", and she's haunting the boyfriend who talks to her still. That's why they don't talk to her, get upset seeing her wedding photos, don't invite her directly, etc. He moved away to get away from the trauma of losing his loved one.

Success!

That Stepford Friends one has some comments by the OP regarding their background:

quote:

Yes! Many others (we are based in London) and I get along extremely well with ALL his other friends and family! We have been based in London for 8 years now and formed stronger friendship groups, which is why - I genuinely think - our relationship is 'healthy', bar his childhood friends. My childhood friends LOVE my husband to bits.

My husband said the only reason he's still friends with this group is because he has known them since they were 14. They are so different too - my husband is doing well in London, and these friends are mostly uneducated/ jobless back in South Wales. It's actually really sad. They really guilt-trip him into staying friends (I've seen their messages) and my husband is too nice/ weak to cut them off :(

I'm not making any calls here, but it could be the BF clinging to a friendship well past it's expiration date because they've known each other such a long time, or the friends could have some chip on their shoulder after he moved away to London and focus it on the OP?

If that's the case the boyfriend/spouse should have been standing up for her from day 1, and the fact that he isn't (actually asking her to take down her own wedding photos????) should be a deal breaker.

That photos thing is the odd bit to me. Old friends you just hang onto for the inertia? I've got those. A tight social circle that just invites him to things because they only see her as "the girlfriend/fiancee"? Yup. Awkwardness about having to interact with and entertain someone you've got nothing in common with? The foundation of any extended family gathering and lots of folks are terrible at it.

But the photos, I just can't get that to fit.

It has to be that. There's no other reason a small group of people, all still good friends with and including his ex, would treat his new girl like that. He's a shitass doormat for asking his wife to remove their wedding photos because his friends are uncomfortable. If he doesn't sever with them she should sever with him, because it's pretty obvious he cares more about crappy friends than his own wife.

Usually a "live-in bang maid" situation is bad because the woman doesn't sign up to be in that role.

This situation is pretty different and unusual. She signed on to be a maid, and for a maid she's probably making pretty good effective income. He doesn't want to have sex with her and it sounds like they're both fine with that, even if they did make that mistake once. So not really a bang maid at all, just a maid.

i don't know if pregnant women need to live in fear of that but it does happen. this story is pretty wild: https://nypost.com/2011/01/20/woman-abducted-as-an-infant-from-harlem-hospital-reunites-with-parents/

tl;dr: a woman posing as a nurse stole a newborn baby from a new york hospital and raised her as her own child for 23 years

also, the biological parents kept a trust fund for the child and one of the attorneys handling the case was skimming funds from it

Yeah, my wording was a little strong. In my head I was including the increased rates of domestic violence during pregnancy, but that's unrelated.

Sometimes women survive the unwanted C-sections. One mom was cut open outdoors and managed to painstakingly crawl towards help. They had to remove gravel and debris from her uterus. Don't remember whether the baby lived or if she was able to have more children.

regardless of whether the friends are personally assholes, the husband is stuck between a clear desire to decolonize himself and the necessity of keeping his home situation with an (unintentional) colonizer stable. i recommend giving time and money to charity and providing meaningful good to the lives of those as marginalized or more than his friends and to consciously keep solidarity with the class of his birth in the back of his head when navigating the world

but otherwise he can cut the friend group out once his guilt is assuaged

AITA for allowing two teenagers to be spit on by a llama?

quote:

I work at a petting zoo here, and this weekend we had two teenager (around 16, boyfriend and girlfriend) who were antagonizing a llama.

I told them "you might want to cut that out! Llamas spit in self-defense." But they kind of laughed my warning off.

Now, I knew that llama spit was a whole lot worse than they probably thought it was. But I decided not to tell them about that. I figured if they persisted, I'd trust the llama to teach them a lesson.

The llama was being patient. At one point it gave them a "warning spit" (just saliva) and they went "eww" and laughed about it and brushed it off, and then kept going at it.

Finally, the llama had enough...and unleashed its green, defensive spit that llamas are known for. It got the girl square in the face. She dropped to her knees and started retching, and eventually threw up. Her boyfriend was gagging and ran away, towards the building that I was in.

To make things worse for them, I didn't even let them come in to wash up in the petting zoo's only bathroom! It was a slow day, so I just locked the doors. I told them I didn't want that smell inside, and made them leave the farm without washing up.

AITA? The girl's parents called me the next day and yelled at me saying that was too harsh. Maybe it was...I knew that if you don't wash out llama spit right away the smell sinks into your skin and becomes extremely hard to remove, but I wanted the lesson to sink in as well.
