The Valley Stared posted:The answer I got was that they couldn't finish booking the trip unless I had lodging in it as well, despite my already providing justification for not booking any. DTS was already giving the group I'm with hassle about not booking the cheapest flights until we explained that there was no way that we could make our international flight with the time the layover gave us. At least they finally shut up about that. Weird, I've booked tons of trips without having to select lodging. Pretty much any det where we're not staying on base involves booking a block of rooms outside of DTS so that everyone is at the same location. Though I do recognize that my last command was blessed with an abnormally awesome travel person and things often aren't as smooth out in The Fleet.

I think the real problem is more that when it comes to paying for housing poo poo, they treat it like supply treats supplies. They try to hoard that poo poo even when they absolutely should not. It's your loving job do your loving job and pay/give part so I can do my loving job.

Is doing your own DTS atandard procedure out in the fleet? It is in my community, and also we have a lot of pay issues because of it

I dug the planes and ship porn but oh my god the dialogue was terrible and corny as gently caress. Also hella hosed up uniforms didn’t those guys have starch back in the day. I think DIs broke my brain. :o Opened a school newsletter thing, saw a little profile piece about the Major that teaches the AFROTC classes. Legit could not get over thinking about how much her cover looked like rear end. And this is after going on a meet-and-greet type visit to my next command where every time I talked with this one CDR I kept getting distracted by how much his sleeve rolls looked like garbage. And the untucked bootlaces *shudder*... they were everywhere...

I know theres a lot of joking going on, but I dont think the US Navy has used these since the 60s and they were laid down in the 40s. I think it'd be interesting to look at old ship designs if anyone does have a resource. Howard Phillips posted:"research project" It's the sequel to Down Periscope. It revolves around a disgraced SWO and a bunch of rag-tag sailors taking a defunct member of the Tin-Can Navy and pitting the plucky upstart against today's Nuclear and AEGIS fleet for a shot at his own command. The excercise is cancelled after the ship's fourth ARI and a fraternization "situation".
