It's not ideal or anything but two LLs, a LBX2, and a UAC5 in a Rifleman is a lot of fun. Most of my mechs suck a bit because I'm insistent on using all the new fun stuff as much as possible, but I'm seeing 100 tonners in 3.5 star missions so who cares lol, there's endless mechs now

Are there +5/+10 damage UAC10s? Would 2 of those give you 4 headshot attempts per called shot?

I don't know, but I just installed a +10 dam UAC20 on a Thunderbolt alongside TAG. My pilot with Breaching Shot and CSM is ready to do some serious work.

Welp, there goes the NARC++ and Snub Nose ++ on my Orion.

Here's a tip for the Braying of the Hounds now - wait until you have four assaults; the star rating is lying. They don't have one LRM boat stalker - they have eight lrm boats and assaults and also a stalker. Kell's just lying to you now about the important part lol

The last part of that also gets half a star bump and forces 2 mechs into your party.

You really want mechs with good heat management and pilots with coolant vent for that Flash Point, given that it's in the lunar biome with heavy opposition.

It helps to sneak around the edge of the map to space out the opposing force.

The last time I did it Kell flailed worthlessly with his ppc failing to accomplish anything at all. His npc buddy was a hero though, he kicked so much poo poo to death after his arms fell off lol

Yes, I know I'm old, get off my fucking lawn so I can yell at these clouds.

I just had a targeting mission against an opfor that had a Raven, and holy cow that's surprisingly annoying to deal with. The AI appears to know how to stay inside the ECM bubble and it makes targeting a real pain in the balls. I ended up dealing with it by jumping my Highlander inside the bubble to murder it with a torso called shot alpha.

Other observations: NARC is holy poo poo good if you have a LRM boat. I've got it sitting in a warhammer right now. The warham blats the gently caress out of someone with a bunch of LLs then the archer follows up with 45 LRMs (3 10s and 1 15 because I have a bunch of +dmg 10s).

Oh. Hey. Looks like they changed the target acquisition missions. I just did one where I hosed up and didn't get to the LZ in time, so it just failed that as an extra objective and spawned a kill team, with a new bonus objective to kill the kill team.

I mean, now the fail state seems to be "get more salvage." I was having a pretty ho hum mission with a single thunderbolt that blew apart as the big salvage item, then the kill squad dropped with a cataphract that I managed to double leg.

I found it useful for two things:

1. Aggro enemies in any defend base/escort mission
2. Get that achievement for killing two mechs in one round/one mech.

Cyrano4747

Yes, I know I'm old, get off my fucking lawn so I can yell at these clouds.

Multishot is also useful for when you have one enemy that is very damaged but still dangerous and another that you want to put some hurt on as well. I use it a fair bit when I can get a side-shot on a mech that is missing that toros and is CT critical. It's better than wasting a whole alpha to kill that Hunchback-G that had the wrong torso eliminated.

See also: situations where one of the targets is easy to hit and has a predictable HP (i.e. single section only.) Taking out a couple of turrets and then landing the excess shots on whatever mech is nearby, for example.

Also good for spreading around multiple enemies to shave evasion pips off.

It's not a all day every day skill, but it's situationally very useful. I usually keep at least one pilot with it.

Multitarget and Breaching Shot are great for LRM boats facing enemies in cover or in guarded stance. You can spread your fire out and still get maximum efficacy.

The actual good use for Multi-Target is a Breaching Shot pilot in an AC20 or LRM20 boat. Everything else is just a niche that one of these pilots can also cover.

Even without that it's still situationally useful. It's a first tier skill so you're not losing much. Sure Footed is arguably a better skill over-all, but there's room to have a multi-target / cool shot pilot for spitting fire everywhere.

My usual lance composition is:

2 guts 1 gunnery
2 gunnery 1 guts
2 guts 1 tactics
2 guts 1 piloting

I've found it to be a solid general-purpose mix.

Multitarget is pretty useful if you're doing a stock mechs run - you can put that :wtc: random LRM5 to work scratching off evasion pips on some other target, while your close-range armament goes after something closer to you.

I built something fun out of an Assassin for some of the Urban Flashpoints that have a 55t/200t drop limit.
Just a single SL, max jump jets and armor, and two meelee++ arm mods. LOL it jumps across half the map and punches for 90 DMG + 50 STB.
It's not super great, but the low drop limit missions usually have trash opfor, so....
