The problem with being good at your job and doing short term contracts means you quickly find yourself out of work.

There are plenty of examples in the lore of some very not to be hosed with merc companies and regiments getting really pushed to the edge and only saved by plot armor when a real military focuses on them as a single target rather than just another combatant in a larger fight. Even the Magistry of Canopus would be able to wipe out your best lance if they really wanted your planet.

Started getting into the level 4-5 difficulty stage of my campaign and I'm starting to remember why I dislike this stage of the game; the action economy becomes king and you can't do anything about it. The game starts throwing two or three fully equipped lances at you, against your single lance, which force you to bring the heaviest mechs you have, just to tank all the incoming damage while also forcing you to output as much firepower as possible. Normally this would be fine if you could fight each lance one at a time, but because of the size of most maps, as soon as you engage one lance the next one is right around the corner ready start firing at you. It so frustrating because you can't do anything about it. I honestly rather bring two lances of mediums in those situations and it annoys to no end that I can't. I wish the game would let me bring in reinforces the same way the computer can.

But at that stage of the game your mechs should be overpowered as gently caress compared to the stock shitfits?

Yeah by that point a mission against 4 enemy mechs is a forgone conclusion.

After finishing my current career with all of the new DLC content, I started a new campaign with the intent to transition to career after. A couple of observations about this: 1. You do not get the Heavy Metal loot crate at the start of a new campaign. 2. Going for full cash this time is working out well. I've got plenty of cbills to shop for nice stuff, which leads to... 3. The new weapons are OP. Four hours in, I was doing decently until I went shopping in a well-equipped store for a couple LB-10X +, a UAC20, plus a few other things - and now I'm just blowing through contracts.

Spoilers for the Heavy Metal flashpoint. I really enjoy them connecting back to the Clan and getting a Clan mech, it's just genuinely cool. I get that it's another 20 years before the clan invasion but I hope that's where they go next with this, if they do a second game. anakha posted:If you can get the DLCs on sale, go for it Yea they're worth it on sale and were really really cheap at CDkeys.
