psyman posted:Well that's because the multiplayer was a regression in almost every aspect from Titanfall 1, sorry to burst your bubble folks. The garish skins don't help either and are completely at odds with the original. Even if it had been released earlier in 2016 I don't believe it would have been more popular, except to PS4 players. psyman posted:Frankly I think they did play it, and like me found the multiplayer was a backwards step from Titanfall 1 in almost every way except movement and new pilot/titan designs. Respawn took an immersive story-driven online war experience and turned it into a sports match arena with inferior dead maps, ugly skins and an amateur UI. Same post exactly 1 year after. Not even a decent attempt to trolling.

Wish it was like that on PC. I have TF2 on Xbox, but I first got it on my PC since years ago I didn't have an Xbox just yet to play it. Used to be able to find games no problem. Tried lately and it was taking 5 minutes to find a match. It's a bit brutal and I hope they'll just put TF2 on Steam for like 5 bucks or free.

Only about 1500 on PC. Maybe they'll put it out on Steam and that revitalizes it some.

There's right now a good mix of poopsockers, veterans like me (average experienced players) and newcomers.

It's an interesting choice if you look at the time period in which Halo first launched. It was massively slowed down compared to the PC FPS of the time like Quake 2 etc, simply so people could play it on console. That combined with the fact you always had access to shooting, melee or grenades was a real divergence from what was available at the time.

It also made vehicles a lot more relevant, which makes sense considering Halo started development as an RTS, then it became a Third Person Shooter that still had some strategy elements, and only once it became an Xbox exclusive did it finally settle into being an FPS

It's designed to work on controllers and in my opinion they nailed it. I played so much Halo when it first came out. I think the biggest thing for me was the AI. Every battle felt pretty different each time, it was immensely replayable. I'd say Respawn are now the kings of making shooters that feel good on a controller.
|
# ? Dec 7, 2019 06:02 |
that's fair, I have very fond memories of playing Halo and Halo 2 with friends on Xbox. Destiny 2 feels quite good with a controller as well, which I suppose makes sense given it's Bungie

To this day I still love that in Halo you can throw a grenade basically instantly. You'll see a situation arise, think "this calls for a grenade" and then you're just throwing that grenade, throwing that grenade perfectly. Every other game that perfect moment sails by as you press right on the D-Pad to equip a grenade

I’m a big baby and I never put down the R-201 despite it being looked down upon as a baby gun. Whenever I try something else, like the volt or the car, I can’t seem to finish someone off and I’ll quickly switch back. Also the Alternator is good, just don’t ADS and hip fire away.

I’m mostly using the default builds for now and trying out each titan as I play to get a feel for them, but there’s a ton of customization that’s a little overwhelming. I assume at this point in the game’s lifespan there’s some tried and true combos to start from!

It’s not pretty, but it gets me to my titan where I’m much better.
