Yeah I do think ChipNDip is too optimistic when it comes to this, production/consumption is for sure affected.

6 figure board members really earned that income.

lol capital absolutely does not like social distancing

retail, oil and gas, restaurants, movie theaters, festivals and shows, airlines, tourism, sports are all turbofucked and have maybe a 2 month window before the second wave comes in the fall. they employ a fuckload of people. right now we're still seeing the effects of inertia in the economy

capital locking poo poo down to intentionally cause a depression is called a "capital strike" and it often happens whenever a south american country elects a socialist government

it also happened in the us in the 70s when the banks started refusing to buy city and state bonds unless they instituted austerity

Ultimately, they don't give a gently caress (because what other choice do dumb peons have), but I think there's a few of them that think they need their white collar devotees. Maybe I'm just an optimist :v:

2) Testing has in no way scaled up with the disease itself (there have been around 100k tests per day - THIS DOES NOT MEAN 100,000 PEOPLE PER DAY- and we are still seeing an average of 25-30% positive rate, with some hard hit areas at 40%, and that's obviously not counting the false negatives. NYC has been insanely aggressive with testing and it is still everywhere there. When we do more tests, we get more positives, which is a good thing in terms of mitigating the spread because now these people can hopefully stay the gently caress home.

very minor, but a couple things in this point are a few days out of date, the US as a whole now gets around 135k tests per day, with new york being the most aggressive ramp-up, resulting in their positive rate dropping DOWN to 40% after it had been up in the mid-50s percentage, that has dropped the overall national rate down to about 23% from where it was in the 25-30% before

I really doubt the US will be able to manage a second lockdown. People are just going to shrug and conclude that the first one didn't work and resign themselves to mass desth. Especially if it's in the run up to elections in November.

most of the massive 600+ page bailout bill was probably just sitting on a shelf somewhere in preparation for an upcoming financial/economic crisis and it just happened to coincide with a pandemic. the fed bailout was just a given. theyre capitalizing on a crisis but they dont actually like the quarantine loving with the economy

How is quarantine actually loving with the economy, though? Small business suckers are screwed, but again, the actual capitalists are getting to buy assets for pennies on the dollar like kids in a loving candy store.

People keep acting like it's doomsday, but the vast, vast majority are still getting paid. Retail is still open. Restaurants are still open for takeout. Automotive/trucking is still open. Most manufacturing is still open. These are ideal conditions for Capital.
