If I remember right arctic-condition animals in general have organs dense in vitamin A which normally isn't a problem, because you get it as precursors that get metabolized-as-needed by the body so you can't really have an overdose of it. But if you eat the organs which have the already-metabolized vitamins in huge amounts, you can gently caress yourself up. But who knows, maybe there are MULTIPLE vitamins you can kill yourself with in the arctic.

Mostly people gently caress themselves up with A, but the others will also do for you. C and the entire B-group are water-soluble, so if you ingest too much you just immediately piss it out again and you'd have to be actively trying to manage to poison yourself with them.

Varkk posted:A friend of mine in high school found out about the power of a car battery the hard way. He was messing about with an old one and bridged the terminals with an old piece of copper wire. He was hoping to make some sparks kind of like a primitive arc welder thing. Anyway apparently there was a flash/bang and his hand got burned. He could not find the piece of copper anywhere and the area smelt funny. Kind of a mix of burnt flesh and copper vapour. BattleMaster posted:One of the profs at my university has a story of a friend of his getting the poo poo burned out of his wrist when he was helping someone out at the side of the road with a flat battery and accidentally shorted the battery with his stainless steel wristwatch. Even a short contact that was nearly instantly broken heated the watch up enough to cause a severe burn. Yeah, this effect is used in exploding bridgewire initiators and exploding foil initiators. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slapper_detonator https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exploding-bridgewire_detonator

Years back (like '89) I was removing some wired up junk from a 65 Ford Galaxie, think I was taking out an old tape player and an dysfunctional after-market A/C. Anyways, after I removed the stuff from inside the car, I began to remove the wiring, some of which passed through the firewall. So I open the hood and start pulling the wires I needed to, not knowing that one of them was an unfused direct-to-the-battery connection (don't know what it was hooked to originally, the wiring was a mess). When this particular wire gets hung up coming through the firewall I give it a good yank, which was enough to hook it on the edge of the firewall hole, cutting through the insulation. This is when I figured out it was connected to the battery. When the insulation cut and it made contact with the firewall, the whole wire lit up and all the plastic insulation just liquefied, the now exposed wires glowing brightly. Part of the wire was still in my hand, as I had been pulling on it, it was pretty much melted into my palm so I had to jerk it free of the melted plastic that had adhered to my skin. The metal in the wire quickly melted enough to break the connection and the whole thing probably only took 2 seconds, if even that. My hand hurt and it was scary as poo poo but could have been worse I guess. And why I never try not to do any work a car with the battery connected (and I still have the Ford)

Only detritus is left to mark the life of this once great beast."

The bucket is on the wrong side at the beginning of the video. The operator should have planted it on the ground and used it to help support and lift the machine. Disclaimer: I’ve never driven an excavator and I’m just armchair quarterbacking here.
