There’s a couple places on that seaside Enoden route that are apparently famous from dramas and movies, too. Or at least as my wife points out every time we visit there.

Driving there/back loving sucks though. i read somewhere that that part of japan is geologically different from the rest because it sits on a different tectonic plate (the phillippines one, mt fuji is the point where three plates push together), which might explain why the beaches are white instead of black like in enoshima, i'm not sure if that's true but the beaches sure are better down in izu i usually take the odoriko line or just the regular train to shimoda and then a bus, takes a while but worth it

Last I heard The government wasn't issuing new visas period, just renewals iirc, so if they're expecting JETs or ALTs to arrive then lol

So some guy started talking to her and she said "I'm busy" and he said "oops my bad, have a good one" I don't get it, is she mistaking someone just chatting with her as a nampa? I feel like I'm missing some nuance here or something

I'm guessing they're saying something along the lines of "if he wasn't a handsome Frenchman/foreigner you wouldn't have had this reaction" and "it had nothing to do with him saying thanks for your time" etc etc

Does anyone know where to find the requirements for permanent residency for spouses of Japanese? My google fu is failing me. My wife and I got moved to the states and got married in Feb. 2019 and we sent all the relevant documents and notifications to the Japanese government about getting married (marriage cert, family registry stuff, name change, etc). We have lived here ever since, without going back. I'm wondering what it will take to get the "no more trips to Shinagawa" permanent residency visa if we move back next year after being married for 2+ years. I previously lived in Tokyo for about 5 years as well before we were married.

You're gonna need to get a 3 year or longer spouse visa and then you will be eligible to apply after you've been married for 3 years. Expect to get only 1 year on your initial spouse visa though. Renewing that visa in 2022 seems like it will line up well with your 3rd anniversary.

# ? Oct 6, 2020 06:45 |

Hmm, so 1-year renewal win 2022, then in 2023 I can get an unlimited term one? Or just 3 years at that point? Also just to be clear, that's 3 years married and living anywhere? Even outside of the country?

# ? Oct 6, 2020 07:47 |

Yeah only time inside Japan counts, amigo. You will have to line up with everyone else.

You can apply for PR once you've been married three years and are also holding a 3 year+ spouse visa. You can even apply on the day you get that 3 year visa if you've already passed your third anniversary. Gabriel Grub fucked around with this message at 08:37 on Oct 6, 2020 |
