Happy Hedonist posted:There will probably be exclusive content, but it seems really dumb to limit your audience by making it exclusive. If Skyrim is any indication, they'll port it to everything they can and re-release it over and over again for 10+ years. I consider no Elder Scrolls or Fallout on PlayStation to be a positive thing. Sony should have standards about what they allow on their console.

Microsoft thought those rumors of Sony buying Konami's game library were real and needed a way to one up them hard. Sony buying Bluepoint actually makes a lot of sense. I'm betting it'll be their next big purchase after the Demon's Souls release.

Bluepoint is incredibly insignificant (if talented) and basically only works with Sony these days anyway. No one would give a gently caress. Buy Square and be done with it you cretins.

Is there a price on Spiderman Remastered by itself? Like, for if I buy the regular version of Miles Morales and then decide that I want Remastered later.

For whatever it's worth, Bloomberg agrees with me (and many others. I should probably stop framing this like I am the only one with this idea lol) . https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-09-21/microsoft-s-bethesda-acquisition-paves-way-for-netflix-of-gaming?srnd=technology-vp 7.5 billion is just too drat much to push a consoles sales. They want to turn Game Pass into something huge. They want game pass everywhere, even playstation, and to give companies like Sony as little wiggle room as possible to say no.

But it seems pretty clear their GAAS aspirations are where it's at for the next 10-15 years.

Rinkles posted:"big" Bluepoint is great. They're the only studio that consistently does a good job with remasters and remakes. Since Sony's backcompat sucks, it would be good to get them on the payroll. Someone needs to remaster / remake MGS4 at some point, right? Actually, an MGS4 remake probably would never happen give the amount of performance capture and VO that would need to happen to make it look good and modern. A remaster should have happened by now, though.

I'm sure the timing of the acquisition lining up perfectly with the launch of a new generation of consoles isn't a coincidence, and they do want to move Xboxs. But in the grand scheme of things I think Xbox is secondary to permeating the entire market by making their GAAS something you can't afford not to have.

That article says Bethesda games still might end up on PS5 or Switch because exclusivity is secondary to the goal of expanding the Game Pass library, which I agree with. It says nothing about Game Pass on Playstation. That sounds unrealistic to me, I don't see how Sony allows a PSNow competitor onto its closed platform.
