I remember reading about the cops that literally gave the escaped-from-a-cannibal-serial-killer dude back to Dahmer, and thinking holy poo poo that's hosed up. All I knew was what the newspaper said, so little did I know at the time that they weren't duped so much as viciously negligent to the point of being complicit. I used to hope they had nightmares and cold sweats from it, but that doesn't come close.

Oxygenpoisoning posted:If you’re talking about HBO’s Q: Into the Storm, it’s pretty good. Cullen Hoback is a good interviewer, and got most of the major people who benefited from Q on camera. He also got a lot of interview time with Ron Watkins, and catches Ron throughout saying absolutely stupid things that make it obvious he’s lying (beyond that clip that was floating around a week or two back). Is this that documentary from that clip where some guy not-quite-accidentally admitted that he's been pretending to be this Q guy since the get-go?

That’s Ron Watkins, admin of 4chan letting it slip in that clip. He actually says multiple things throughout that let you know he’s very in on it, if not Q himself. The first episode has a point where it’s insinuated one of the 8chan Mods notices that Q is using his trip code with the same scrambled ip, which is different than the beginning. He says this is a fake Q, Ron steps in, says it’s the real Q, and moves Q drops to another 8chan board to avoid any more issues. He also says Q pointed out the number of 8chan users online then acted like it was some cyber op that he didn’t even know how many people were online. Super loving stupid.

Hot Karl Marx posted:I'll drop it after this but: You're right, bad phrasing on my part. There are parts of the Fox News lineup that you can have a slanted conversation with and Mayo Pete is EXTREMELY good at it. Like it's one of the Biden comms team's best decisions to just stick him on Fox News and let him talk. GG is invited on Tucker/Hannity/et al because he agrees with them and does nothing but agree with them. Mayo Pete and Bernie can have very good conversations with slanted folks on Fox News. But when you're deep into the daily White Nationalist primetime hours, I don't think a conversation can be had with anyone on those shows. They need to be told to gently caress their racist faces, hard. If you're getting actively invited onto their shows just to agree with them (like GG), knowing what they say on a daily basis, you're a bad person. For more content, there's a weird thing going on during the COVID surge in Michigan: https://twitter.com/challreporter/status/1381661252020285449 Michigan's a blue state with a good governor and a chudfuck State House/Senate hellbent on taking away the governor's pandemic powers, to the extent they exist. We obviously reopened too early, especially with restaurants and after-school sports, but we've kept mask mandates and lots of other restrictions that the chuds can't stand. The state is basically saying the root cause is a compliance problem (everyone's ignoring the rules) and the only thing that will help is a vaccine surge. The Biden administration is saying to shut poo poo down, vaccines take too long to take effect. I'm on Team Shutdown, but things are lovely in a 50-50 state when one party basically thinks it's all a hoax. facialimpediment fucked around with this message at 18:32 on Apr 12, 2021 |

Flying_Crab posted:except they're not going to be responding to misdemeanor crimes or pulling people over for traffic poo poo (and shooting them) To add to that last one: quote:Balcerzak first gained national attention in 1991, when he was fired for having handed over an injured child to serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, despite bystanders' protests. He appealed his termination and was subsequently reinstated. Balcerzak retired from the Milwaukee Police Department in 2017. quote:In May 2005, Balcerzak was elected president of the Milwaukee Police Association, defeating Sebastian Raclaw by a vote of 521 to 453. As president, he was criticized for failing to protect officers from mandatory overtime and not supporting African-American officer Alfonzo Glover, who was charged with homicide on 30 May 2006, and later committed suicide on the same day. By June 2006, the union vice president had resigned because of disagreements with Balcerzak's "leadership style". A petition to remove Balcerzak was filed and a recall election was held in August 2006. The results were 213 for a recall and 397 to retain him. At an October 9, 2009, trustee election, John Balcerzak was not re-elected as a trustee, thus having to vacate his position as president on December 31, 2009. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Balcerzak Sounds like he's retired and enjoying life, almost certainly with a six figure pension. Just like William Calley is free and enjoying his golden years in Florida.

CommieGIR posted:"Look, people accidentally pull their handgun and shoot an innocent person all the time! We're not highly trained cops or anything!" The fact that many tasers use a grip and trigger similar to handguns is a real problem when you have the same people armed with both. Training is only so effective, and it's an indication of the lack of the responsiveness of police departments that they keep buying devices that are so easy to confuse for a gun.

I think its safer to say they don't need access to firearms if they cannot deal with them. "Training is only so effective" is such a poor excuse given how often this happens accidentally or on purpose.
