Tbf this is certainly because nobody actually speaks Irish that could process the forms, not because the bureaucrats are proudly defending the language of their conqueror. It will never not be funny that they keep putting Irish on any sign funded with a single eurocent of government money while there's six very old men living on the west coast that can actually speak--- oh god another one just died.

Yeah that is misleading. It's funny here in Scotland everything official including the police vans have it written in gaelic but as far as I can tell nobody understands it E I like it tbh but I like bilingual signs in general cos you can learn summat E2 I do need a pronunciation guide though cause all languages that use our alphabet are too hard to decipher Communist Thoughts has issued a correction as of 15:23 on Apr 17, 2021 |

I seriously doubt the amount of Irish gaelic speakers on that graph is accurate. Anytime there is a survey done in N. Ireland republicans will claim to speak gaelic even if all they can do is count to 10 and remember a few phrases and questions from school. I have family members guilty of this. Sinn Fein once put up a billboard promoting gaelic in our town. The first time it was "33% of XXXX speak Irish!" It was soon taken down and replaced with "33% of XXXX have Irish!" It was soon taken down completely. The same old tribalism, republicans want to rub gaelic in loyalist faces and then they went ahead and elevated Ulster Scots to a language. That's like making cockney rhyming slang a language.   It would be great to promote gaelic if you could remove the politics from it but that seems impossible right now.
