I once played a runner who was an "Import/Export" specialist who always tried to make some extra cash by dealing in whatever drug he had on him whenever he could. He also carried 5K nuyen worth of novacoke everywhere he went (bought with starting money) just in case there was an opportunity to make big bucks with it.

A one-shot autoinjector with a dose of K-10 is an economic and effective way to guarantee that if everything goes wrong, at least you won't have a boring death.

Poil posted:I once played a pen and paper runner with addiction to both novacoke and alcohol. He took a break in the middle of a gunfight to save an expensive bottle from being shot to pieces full. Fortunately no one in the group, me included, could be bothered trying to figure out the addiction rules so he didn't suffer too badly from his lifestyle. Although most runners probably don't need to worry about long term prospects even without a heavy drug addiction. Yeah the addiction rules are fully terrible and involve book keeping to the level of "you may need to keep a drat calendar that has to be checked over multiple play sessions. Which in practice means absolutely no one uses them as written, and don't usually replace it with anything. So addiction becomes a way to get free karma for positive qualities.

If nothing else the bundling of assault weapons and possibly mind loving combat drugs sums up the mood of most of the sixth world. Cheer up everybody, we're not there yet!

Yeah, in SR:HK a lot of these have activated modes but even those have passive effects that are always on when they're in your quick-slots. In tabletop, it's far more 'always on shenanigans' than active "moves".

Here's another unofficial poll for you, since Hong Kong eliminated bonus stats from outfits and since there's a tailor in Whampoa who sells most outfits we've seen plus a couple more (Ballistic Cloth Suit and Last-Gen Linen Coat), I might as well let the thread decide Taz's look up until the next upgrade. The Ballistic Cloth Suit is what Rosa wore for most of her Berlin adventures and is slightly better than the others even with the removal of its +2 Charisma and 1 of its Armor, though it also costs pretty much all of our money (¥825 as opposed to ¥450 for the others). If you want to name your preference feel free to do it on looks alone, the values and descriptions don't particularly matter. Edit: Voting has concluded. I was going to go traditional with the Monk outfit, because I think Taz might go for that (stereotypes be damned), but- no shoes. I don't care how traditional it is, you need shoes in the city of the future, especially the places Runners go. So this is the opposite direction entirely, but I think I have to throw my hat in for the Ballistic Cloth Suit. Yes, I know the Securetech is more suitable and more cyberpunk, but daaamn. I like girls in suits.
