Weirdly enough that seems to be an officially licensed kit from a lovely 1984 anime series https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch%C5%8D_K%C5%8Dsoku_Galvion ...... which was itself a ripoff of Super Dimension Fortress Macross so I guess it still counts in a roundabout way But it also turns out that the model production company ARII were no strangers to crappy knockoffs, here's some of their classic 1978-80 plastic kits: https://www.scalemates.com/companies/company.php?id=387&p=list They're insanely collectable and these days those kits sell for hundreds and hundreds of dollars: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/143147691334 Snowglobe of Doom has a new favorite as of 19:52 on May 20, 2021 |

Man, you can really tell Dr. Boy, it’s gun peripheral, and it’s suggestion to “play games on the street” with it aren’t a product of America.

I actually saw this one in the wild many years ago and immediately adopted it as a nickname for my cat. It is an excellent thing to call a cat, really.

The Forgotten Weapons guy is making a 500+ page book about Chinese mystery pistols. AKA knockoffs of guns made by people who knew how to work with metal but didn't know what guns were, usually made for warlords. Because few things go together better than firearms and bootlegs.

Chainclaw posted:I own two famiclones, although people tend to not call the Analogue NT a famiclone even though it is. The Russian on it is of the quality found in poorly translated Chinese user manuals, so I'd hazard a guess it's not actually Russian (plus it says Batong Electronics Plant on the controller). Considering the ubiquitousness of Dandy brand clones, this thing might be pretty rare, because I can't find a lot about it even in Russian. On the other hand, someone in Novokuznetsk tries to sell one for ~15 bucks, so it's probably not a collector's item.

I'll have to look into a better identification at some point. I had a PAL CRT a few years ago, but didn't get a chance to test with it. Also that was the label on it when I bought it, and I didn't know enough to challenge. It was just a really cool looking older famiclone that wasn't too expensive, so I jumped on it. Or almost wasn't too expensive. I ended up getting an expensive parking ticket while we were at the convention I got it at.

I'm sure I saw the followup video for that, and it was full of stuff various Western countries had surplused out from their own armies and provided as military support. Still interesting to a collector for the variety of stuff, but not interesting in the same way as a genuine Browningbrowningbrowning Colt Wauser.

You know those horribly racist old movies where an ethnic group was portrayed by a bunch of white dudes in makeup chanting gibberish at each other? Japanese media about foreign countries is basically still doing those except they depict white people the same way, which is how you end up with things like this.

I'm fine with being Melinda Megamelons, we should all aspire to be like her The actual equivalent would be European/Middle Eastern people being depicted as basically 1930's Jewish stereotypes with huge noses. I mean it still makes me laugh but it probably wouldn't if I actually lived there
