All this talk about the WWE firings and a thought I had. Lacey Evans still draws a WWE paycheck. As does Tamina Snuka. 2 charismaless, bad wrestlers who are awful at reciting the lines that are handed to them. Two performers who, despite multiple opportunities have failed to connect in any way with the As opposed to Aleister Black or Braun Strowman.

I don’t think Dawn Marie got let go in a batch of other people so it was very obvious it was because of her pregnancy. Shitcanning a pregnant woman alongside a bunch of other people has cover built in and the “budget cuts” excuse is just as valid as it is for anyone else (which is to say lol it’s not).

Firing a pregnant veteran might be the bridge too far in this circumstance considering how much WWE loves their relationship with the military. But that all depends on how much anyone would really care and the answer is probably not much.

Dawn Marie sued and WWE settled so this may be a case where they know it’s cheaper to keep someone on payroll than settle a lawsuit Also Lacey being well liked by the locker room is a Trevor reference, sorry to spoil the joke

Dawn Marie also got fired sixteen years ago, when social media barely existed and there was no way to stir up a mass of anger that the media could pick up on easily whenever a company pulls bullshit like that. Facebook and MySpace were two years old. Twitter simply didn’t exist. Phones still flipped open and texting with a full keyboard was held to Sidekicks and BlackBerrys. News didn’t puke itself onto the Lock Screen of your phone, because no one knew what a Lock Screen was. It’s a thing they couldn’t really get away with now without suddenly experiencing a tornado of poo poo. They’d just wait two months after the baby was born, like they did with the Kanellises (Kanelli?).

Lacey is white, blonde and rah-rah about US military, that's a lot of potential outrage from WWE's target audience.

while the specific circumstances of how/why are different, it's hard not to hear monday-night-wars history echoing from WWE carelessly wasting and then losing a glut of young ultra-talented midcard guys who could all probably be main event staples if given the right treatment edit: i use 'young' in the sense that wwe considers a 38 y/o an upstart kid GrimGypsy fucked around with this message at 13:34 on Jun 5, 2021 |
