Lmao my fascist run just ended because I failed the physical instrument check with Rene and Gaston. It’s not even technically a failure but I still had a meltdown lol

Heya! I think I just encountered a quest-breaking bug in my game. I didn't find any answer, so maybe someone here has found a solution... It's about the ultraliberal political quest - "Become a man of plenty". I'm at a point where I have to sell a piece of art. Internet says it's the Mega-Rich Light-Bending Guy, but I can't open the container anymore; I've been there before, and now the door just says "The door is locked, conclusively". Apparently, this is a known issue, and people only suggested starting a new save and never interacting with the container at all until the quest asks for it. Am I just hosed now? Is the only way to complete the quest to have it while visiting the container for the very first time, since you're locked out forever afterwards? Or can I pull some save file-editing shenanigans to restore this?

This might work, but I'm not sure: unzip your save file and add the line "Variable["cargo.mrlb_has_left"]=false;" to the end of the "states.lua" file, and then re-zip it up.

I ran into the same issue myself. Dozens of people on the steam forums did, it's still not being fixed sadly. It only happens if you do the red check there before you leave, but its still a glaring oversight. As is opening the ledger near the end, it will softlock you.

I was under the impression that it was fixed in Final Cut or some other patch since when I tried doing it on purpose after I had managed to successfully sleep in the lighthouse without dreaming about Dora during my complete racist rear end in a top hat playthrough, Composure stopped me from being able to do so under the justification of preventing me from erasing all the progress towards the subject. Granted, I assume it's probably more due to the above spoilered bit, or because I had Cuno as my partner.

Has anyone try to go full Communist while playing the board game? Can you win that way?

pedro0930 posted:Has anyone try to go full Communist while playing the board game? Can you win that way? Yes and no. You still lose the game. But you can then point out to Kim that he taught that you that points don't matter and that regardless of the score you played the game that you wanted to and did what you set out to accomplish and he likes that answer.

I did it because I needed to kill time for the vision quest. It's a pretty good little scene, worth reopening the box and playing it again (if that works) or reloading a save and giving it a try.

You can only do it once per playthrough.

I'm just upset we can't actually play Wirrâl, because the loving bookstore only has that supplement module and no core rulebook.

My current 1/1/1/1 failcop arc is a cop continuing to be a hollow shell of a man nearly having mental breakdowns every time alcohol was consumed, while also apologizing profusely and being extremely boring. But then he smoked one(1) cigarette[which was probably weed], and became Johnny Thundercop, who was Cool As Balls™ and managed to get the whole story on the murder case he is investigating AND present an alternative theory onto why exactly it happened. Entirely dependent on Kim's help, of course, even though I still am deep in negative points with him ESPECIALLY AFTER I defamed him over his favorite radio station by saying the extremely fascist thing and then asked for a shoutout with Kim

Unfortunately, it did not work! It DID make the container available for interaction again, but not as a door. I'm just stuck wondering how the door could be opened, but with no Rhetoric check available. I tried a variety of things to, maybe, make the Rhetoric check pop up again, including editing the save file for the list of available white checks, but no dice. This... sucks. I was on Day 5. My last save with the container unopened is Day 2. Oh dear. -_-

Got my wife playing it. She's not a video game person at all. Has some interest in DnD type RPG, and tabletop and some experience in each. Got her started, she chose the emotional default character. Started out hardly being able to walk around, still needs to look down for the A button on the xbox controller. She played for ten hours yesterday, completing the first day. I gave her almost no help past initial getting started and keys and whatnot. Still hasn't gotten the body down, or even spoken to Measurehead. Did go through a lot of the Doomed Commercial Area. She's going to be a moralist, sorry cop, it looks like, though she's getting a bit more aggressive though, thanks to her fairly high physique score. She likes the horrible tie, for sure. She did get a bit upset at how the game is complicated and esoteric. I told her that, yes it was, and I still don't know how everything works, but that she is doing fine. She has mastered the Jamrock Shuffle, and figured out that like every bottle you can see, you can pick up, which I never realized. I also already told her that this is basically the best game ever so, everything else will be poor in comparison. Any recommendations for point and click, RPG's and Visual Novels that a casual might like to try after this?

TychoCelchuuu posted:Kentucky Route Zero (which, no joke, is possibly better than this game). I don’t know, I played KRZ after disco elysium, in part because people compared it favorably to Disco Elysium, and it’s much different, there’s even less text and it’s even more slowly paced. I enjoyed it, but i much prefer Disco Elysium, although if you liked Inland Empire, the skill, it’s probably the closest thing out there to a Twin Peaks/Lynch video game.

I think nitw only works if you can identify in some way with that specific background. I don’t know small American towns or small town American people. My life as a 20-year-old wasn’t like that. I didn’t get it. It was about as fun as hanging out with a bunch of directionless angry teenagers would be in real life. KRZ is beautiful and atmospheric enough that even if you have no idea what’s going on or what it’s trying to say, you still have a good chance of enjoying it imo

I think it hits a lot differently if you're from that sort of dying rust belt town that's depicted. It hits home incredibly hard for me and I can see my home and my friends and family and myself all reflected in portions of it in a way that makes it a real gut punch. My 1/1/1/1 fail cop failed miserably at catching a key like a cool person, and got stabbed in *the lookin' ball* (and avoided a heart attack with my fingers on the medicine) And then I received 25 dollars out of pity from Noid who threw it at me. That's loving Union novelty check money right there I didn't know about before

So yea this is one of the most fascinating games I’ve ever played and I’m wary of spoiling myself and really taking it slow. However the (day 1 spoiler) damaged ledger letter is really confusing me. I frustratingly died reading it and hadn’t saved in a while prior. I now at least know to quick save often but will I eventually find out why exactly this letter causes a game over? Don’t need to know the specifics just if there is an explanation coming up at some point
