Left-wing advocation of gun ownership doesn't really seem to go in for that kind of thing as far as I can see. In my experience it's much more "The right is enacting active violence against us, cops and government are on their side, this is our only remaining resort." and it's of the "I'm a trans woman and I carry a gun hoping I'll never have to fire it but I can't rely on anyone else" side of things while the right thinks either "Race war time baybee!" or "I will personally go John McClane on a terrorist cell and save 200 lives".

If you want to defend yourself, spend 10 bucks on a baseball bat or 25 on a knife, not 300 on a glock. It has the exact same chance of actually working and none of the downsides. If you think that arming yourself personally is a worthwhile resort against encroaching right wing state violence, before you buy a gun go buy a history book and find out how useful that has ever been.
