Re: the Woods v Reigns feud over being "King" The worst that could happen is that this feud is now over. Woods gets his "moment"(tm) of being King of the Ring, but is immediately shown to be a loser goober not on the level of Roman Reigns, so Roman cheats to get the crown, (gotta keep his heat), and doesn't officially lose, (gotta keep him strong on the place where it matters most, the statistics), and adds another useless title to his "I'm the best" gimmick, whilst Xavier Woods gets relegated back to not being paid for his UpUpDownDown content. But, lets say they keep this feud going, and Woods and his New Day pals fight Roman and his Uso pals over the crown for a little bit, it could end up half decent. And I know people are making GBS threads on wrestlers suddenly becoming "King whatshisname", but Woods is creative, charismatic, and fun enough to possibly make it into a fun little thing. And you could use it to elevate Champion Big E, by having him be the one to beat/pin Roman. Or if you don't want to do that, have the Usos do the losing, and Roman can keep being pissy that he lost the crown he never earned due to incompetent underlings etc.

Even the pre-PPV tournaments had the winners taking on dumb King gimmicks, sometimes treating it as if it was a title belt that could be passed around, resulting in stuff like Macho King Randy Savage. Hell, Harley Race did the dumb king gimmick when he won the 1986 version of the tournament. So it's even more old and tired than it might seem, it's just that now their old and tired thing is the only note they have for it.

And re: KotR, I always liked the old ones where the winner could claim bragging rights of having beaten 3 men in one night. Also, coz I am a dumbarse with bad opinions, I kinda like it when they get goofy with it and have the winner pretend to be actual Kings. King Booker was a fun run. I liked how he called Taz "Tazwell". But of course this kind of poo poo is only fun if you allow the performer to put some of their own personality into it. Woods has personality and charisma enough to make it work, but will WWE let him is the question.
