it's why you typically don't give advance notice of your intention to resign. the politics big brains have got it all figured out tho. boris johnson would look really bad if he did this

50:50 on whether keith will actually resign if it happens; he's not exactly had any difficulty changing his mind before has he. it'll be funny to do 'this you' comparisons with all the previous takes about how keir is a righteous paladin divinely ordained to arbitrate the nation's moral destiny but all those people have goldfish memory and no one will actually do anything

We do get fascinate from the spell/witchcraft sense, same as charm and glamourise, but not from the penis extension.

Still, it was pretty close and the No campaign was based on a lot of stuff that has turned out to be obviously false - eg staying in the EU. With everything that's happened since conditions are different enough to argue that public opinion may have shifted sufficiently to warrant another vote. If there was another vote to remain in the UK despite Brexit and Boris, it would be a lot harder to justify again anytime soon. Not that it matters, I'd be fine with having votes everyday - isn't that proper democracy? If the majority of people don't want to leave Scotland won't leave no matter how many referendums are called, if they do it will. I don't really think Yes would win, but I can see why Sturgeon has made the move. ThomasPaine fucked around with this message at 11:03 on Jun 29, 2022 |

Hey UK nerds, here's a fantastic opportunity to WRITE TO YOUR MP Chief Scientific Adviser Sir Patrick Vallance, and other scientific leaders, will brief MPs on the Climate and Ecological Emergency in JUST TWO WEEKS, on Monday 11 July. The link contains a form letter that you can send to your MP to encourage them to attend, and bask in the certain assurance that the system is working. The background: A Angus Rose posted:Rose said: “Many parliamentarians seem unaware of the frightening implications of the climate crisis; though the information is available to them, there has been no system in place to ensure they engage and understand it. This is what has been so frustrating. My hope is that if MPs understand the science, they will act with the required urgency.” MPs to get scientific briefing on climate after activist’s hunger strike And some other UK Health Alliance on Climate Change posted:The briefing from the Chief Scientific Adviser will provide the latest scientific evidence on the climate crisis to enable members of parliament to take the decisive actions needed to protect human and planetary health, in much the same way as we witnessed the Chief Medical Officer share vital evidence-based information during the covid pandemic. We strongly urge you to attend so that you are equipped to make informed decisions for the benefit of your constituents, for public health and for our health service. Health leaders urge MPs to attend briefing on climate change If you work in healthcare, this tweet contains a link to a form that will allow you to contact your MP even faster!

Going into an election with an untested newcomer barely stumbling out of the starting gate and a pinky promise that THIS one won't be a useless, corrupt imbecile would be absolute electoral suicide, not least since everyone has forgotten Keith and Labour's existence, so you get the perfect blend of a complete lack of political vision, no inspiring personalities and the stink of internal squabbling and rudderless incompetence. In that situation half the Tory voters could pull their vote in disgust and Johnson would still win a comfortable majority. E: I'm aware that Johnson is also a useless, corrupt imbecile, but he has a self-confidence that propels him through any crisis in a way that Keith doesn't, and people are at least somewhat aware of who members of the cabinet are, but I'd be hard pressed to tell you who any of the shadow cabinet are right now, let alone what role they play or anything positive they've ever done.
