I recall there was even some mission or dlc in sr4 where they explicitly point out the bits which were supposed to be in sr3 (a dominatrix themed story?) but couldn't go in due to budgetary concerns, and that sr4 was originally a canned sr3 dlc but the superhero genre was too popular not to capitalize on resulting in a full game on the same sr3 map and engine My fav bit was modern angry shaundi having to meet old-school stoner shaundi but they never resolved why she changed personality. Stoner shaundi going "I love pizza!" lives rent free in my head

I don't remember what got it banned in the end but one account went down for telling a mod "GTA vice city can't be GTA 4 because London 1969 exists" lol, the GameShark forums. i don't think i ever got banned from there myself, but that is where i had baby's very first experience of being Trolled Online -- some rascal duped my username (i was 'lugia321', and they made 'iugia321' with a capital i) and posted a bunch of rude things all over the subforums i would frequent. i remember being SO confused and dismayed at the time, being a literal child who would never even conceive of being mean to someone on the internet!, but looking back on it now, it was harmless enough and they got me pretty good

I'm replaying SR3 right now and it holds up pretty well gameplay wise, tho I am skipping literally every cutscene so that might be why I'm enjoying it so much
