You're right these are extremely hot takes indeed I notice inanimate objects like rocks also fit the definition of non-human, do they deserve our concern too? Or does it only count if they have a body? What if I put it to you that ideas like "having a body" serves the same justificatory role within humanist ideology that whiteness plays within white supremacy?

Corsec, you've made some really interesting points, and I'm a little sad that we are all busy strawmanning you because it really is difficult to think and discuss humanity's exploitative relationship with nature beyond material and direct examples (factory farming, clear cutting, etc). As you said here:quote:[...] Life consumes life to survive, after all. I will add one slight amendment to the point about the horticultural revolution: whether caused by climate change or by human overexploitation, humanity was forced to choose a less desirable substitution because the preconditions of its former way of life was coming to an end (and the ideal conditions of the Holocene helped too!) And yes, while I'm trying desperately not to idolize the "noble savage", we've only had one type of human organization survive for far longer than civilization so far ... Classic humanist thinking. When rabbits destroy the ecosystem of an entire continent it “doesn’t count” because they didn’t do it in the exact same way humans would.

Noah and the other libs like him are demanding they 'correct' this issue, it doesnt matter that per capita emissions are lower, its total that counts, etc. Through what mechanism are they suggesting this be done? Because it kind of sounds like they're asking for a purge.

The Voice of Labor posted:what are the fish going to eat during nuclear winter? planktion? The value of fish will go up as land-based agriculture is devastated. This will incentivize fishery strategies that will lead to greater fish biomass. This could mean that more sustainable types of fishing will be developed. In our model we didn't consider things like "industrial pollution and decay seeping into the waterways".
