I think two things are best for ranking up. Knowing when you've lost by understanding what your opponent is likely to play and using cards that give big swings. Killmonger, Shang Chi, Enchantress can royally gently caress over a deck that thinks it's won which means more cubes. It's not so much about having the best win rate deck as it is about getting your opponents to snap when they probably shouldn't. I'm confident I will win over 50% of games so I snap on turn one. By the time they snap the game is pretty obviously decided and I can retreat for 2 or hit them with the Killmonger they don't know about for 8. I'm not always right, but people aren't exactly creative. Everything is ongoing? Onslaught/Spectrum. Move cards? Heimdal. Played Moon Girl? Devil Dinosaurs. Discard cards? Apocalypse.

Oh yeah make that three things, time, it's going to be a grind.

I dunno, if not, I'm close to it.

Started running an Apocalypse deck since I had the cards for it and I've been doing well with it.
Haven't had a ton of luck with my sword-users managing to chop Swarm or Apocalypse when I'd like them to, but it always feels good when they do.

The Enchantress does a lot of work against Kazoo (I don't have Killmonger yet) and Dino decks. It has good board presence but also has the ability for some big swings in the late game. Cosmo also disrupts things nicely.

A guilty pleasure of mine is trashy web comics and so we should use those for our power rating. Stuff like Heavenly Realm or perhaps letter ratings. "There's no way a C rank can be so strong, you must be cheating!" Just now I'm starting one called "I got lucky and pulled a 10th rank summon!" What is a 10th rank summon? I don't know I bet it's pretty good.

Ok here's my No Fun Allowed deck that i'm having a lot of fun with in early pool 3. Working out pretty well for me so far, I love how versatile a given card can be in this game -- sometimes I'm shutting down an enemy Bucky Barnes or Nova with Armor, other times I'm using it to protect my own Sunspot from my Killmonger. Haven't really swung a game off of Rogue yet and I can't tell if she's a good card or not but the effect seems really fun so she makes the cut.

Been using this or something similar to it for most of pool 1 and it's been working pretty good as soon as I got the enchantress. Elektra and white queen were recent additions to replace a fairly useless Korg and Spider Woman to Queen. The amount of games that Enchantress wins for you is really absurd at this level.

Seems like progressing at this point is just playing occasionally to do dailies? Game's fun and quick enough so that's not the worst for a free game, I suppose.

I played a match earlier where one of the locations was the "Draw a random card" effect, and it gave me Rogue.
Used her to dupe my opponent's Iron Man effect and clutch the spot.

I'm not sure how it will work longterm but I'm enjoying hobgoblin turn 5. They usually already have something they want to plan on turn six so the downside to the location is fairly insignificant. And since (most) players (I've seen) are hesitant to place anything there it's hard to climb back from the power loss.

Basically 3 card monte with Vulture and trying to move him around as much as possible and power him up to the 20+ range, and if you don't draw well you have backup options.
It's gimmicky, but it's a fun gimmick

Thinking I will likely swap out Prof X for Spider-woman shortly, or maybe a 2-3 power card like Armor or Storm

Honestly can't believe how good this game is.

God drat I love Machineworld, people don't know how to play it yet, they're so afraid to put cards there and I just put cards there I know they can't sensibly play on curve and win every time. Giant win streak from 55 to 60.

I feel like if you run killmonger you shouldnt run any one drops besides nova. And if you arent running any other 1 drops you might as well run devil dino. And if you run devil dino might as well run sentinel. And then because you need a lot of 2 costs you should probably run lizard and also mr sinister because you're running nova. This is how pool 2 deckbuilding is feelin to me atm.

I need to snap more and retreat more. Just got tilted and lost like four ranks this morning, when I win I tend to get 1 or 2 cubes, and my losses tend to be 4 or 8 cubes. I realized that often my opponent would have retreated if they weren't feeling confident, so close matches that go 6 turns are less likely to be a coin flip than say Hearthstone where you don't risk anything from playing the match to the end.

To me, it's been about learning my deck and when my draw is strong/weak. A lot of people, at least up to rank 60 where I'm at, will just play to the end for seemingly no reason and they only snap on turn 5 or 6. I will snap on turn 2 if I have a good location and a good hand, I'll snap on turn 4 if I have the absolute best draw my deck can have and no bad locations. The goal is to get at least 2 cubes when you have a strong chance of winning instead of just 1.

Iceman is Killmonger's wingman. As a 1-cost, he lulls the opponent into a false sense of security. If his reveal throws off their curve, your opponent's dead-draw 1 drop fillers in their hand get played to help keep tempo.

Iceman has zero synergy with the deck I currently use him in (Odin + Dino), but he is a decent late draw filler card against most decks since he gets better as your opponent's hand shrinks (which is also when you may have already used Killmonger anyhow).

Okay I think I found the absolute worst deck to play with the current featured location lol (when the Guardians get added to the opponent's hand they keep their buffed stats)

Possibly true in Pool 2, but in Pool 3 you get The Hood and Deadpool who you want to kill - as often as possible, in DP's case - and Death, who gets cheaper for everything that is destroyed. This includes cards removed by Yondu, so you play him too.

Often correct but I am using Mantis and Agent 13 as my only one drops in a big hand deck. I have never been sad at having one of them die since board presence wasn't their purpose anyways in most cases.

Had a fun lil game earlier

Opponent snaps immediately
Second location is Hala (After turn 4, destroy stuff of the player losing here)
I play Yondu or something in it, opponent goes big with Lizard and Domino later
Third location is the one that gives you a copy in hand of whatever you play there
I abandon middle, and end up with two Angelas right, then play a Blue Marvel
Final turn I drop BM and Ant-Man left to fill it and handily win the two. Final turn my opponent plays Iron Man middle (left and right had Namor)
