There are Some Posters who insisted Regal was secretly evil in WWE before he even got signed and posted AEW should never sign him for his Secret Evil baggage and now that he's gone they feel free to post he was Always Bad.

conjecturing that he was faking wanting to be with his family to get sympathy out of a man whose mother was in the hospital is projecting some level of evil

He's the guy who runs AEW, the first major competitor to WWE since WCW died. You should check it out, it's pretty rad :)

A billionaire millennial who grew up on ECW, 2000 independent wrestling, and Japanese tapes. He funded and runs the biggest American promotion since WCW died and is the other half of the modern wrestling war. His promotion, AEW, and it's talent is the dominant popular promotion here by about 20 to 1 if not higher.

wrestling in the US has improved over the last three or four years or so because of a new televised promotion called All Elite Wrestling, run by the son of a billionaire who was a huge wrestling geek since he was a kid. quality of the show has been very high, and it's the closest there's been to actual competition in the US wrestling scene since WCW was alive (and, amusingly enough, a lot of the old WCW vibe lives on in AEW, right down to Sting being around)

Short answer, yes & yes.

Longer answer, they do hardcore stuff in various guys but no where as often as ECW, & when they do it's generally for storyline reasons rather than just because that's the extent of what Sandman can do. They definitely don't have the same number of meandering walk & brawls through the crowd that ECW had, & I say that as someone with a fondness for ECW. To pick one example, there was an amazing tag team steel cage match in 2021 with The Young Bucks against The Lucha Bros. There were thumbtacks, it was a bloodbath, but it was also a super exciting wrestling match. They also have a match, Blood & Guts, which is very much WCW Wargames, which is cool. Oh, Chris Jericho did a deathmatch with a former CZW wrestler, Nick Gage, that was wild.

As for luchadores, yeah, they have several. There are the aforementioned Lucha Bros, Fenix & Penta El Zero Miedo, IRL brothers, there's Rush & Dralistico, another pair of brothers, they used Mascara Dorada last year. So it's there but not massively prominent. The Japanese wrestlers are much more prominent.

Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley had a deathmatch that was the most brutal deathmatch ever aired on a major company. It however was not called a deathmatch just a Lights Out match. Go watch it.

Do not look up Moxley v Omega deathmatch. That was... a whole different thing we all would prefer not to remember.

AEW has some great wrestling and you should definitely check it out if you haven't watched for a while. You have nothing to lose. I am going to say maybe don't feel bad if you don't like the stories because they aren't everyone's cup of tea but there is nothing you can say about the quality of work.
