Holy wow, the Steam Deck is way the gently caress cheaper than I thought it’d be, $400 for the 64 GB one and another $50 for a 512GB card. It’s still a lot of money, but I need an emulation system and I’ve really missed PC gaming…

It drips the mix of the Japanese urban legend / historic mythos combo aesthetic, the combat itself is viscerally fun and looks really cool, and the collection portion is the smoothest, easiest collectathon I've ever had the pleasure of playing. The entire soundtrack is also A++, I had added it to my playlist after I finished the game and didn't regret it. The MC also has a good character arc IMO, made the ending a bit more satisfying. There's a bunch of closets and dumpsters you can hide in Metal Gear Solid style, and a boss fight with a hiding mechanic. But none of it ends up doing anything. It feels like a stealth mechanic was meant to be heavily used at one point in development and then it was abandoned.

I've had it since day 1 on Epic and ran into no problems? how good a PC port is nowadays on launch depends in large part on your particular GPU/CPU due to shader compilation issues my old shithouse PC ran nier: automata and FF7R on launch with basically zero issues, and my current PC has run DSR and wo long perfectly fine, but there's plenty of people out there with beef PCs who have stuttering so bad in wo long that they may as well be playing a slideshow

I dunno, I pirated Hogwarts and still get those stuttering problems. The game requires a SSD that is equivalent or faster to what is in the PlayStation 5 / Xbox Series X.

The stuttering a lot of recent ports have can be caused by Denuvo or whatever but a lot are engine based as far as I know. I think there's ways around it if you let it build a cache at the first startup after a patch or install like Dead Space remake does now and Monster Hunter Rise does. I had major stuttering issues in Elden Ring but they went away as I got past the beginning of the game and I think they're better now after patches than on release. Haven't really had stuttering on Wo Long with a 13th gen Intel CPU but I did have to turn off a setting to get it to stop flickering white light every 3 seconds.
