Jae Lee did some really good work on the Dark Tower comics.

Were those through IDW or Dark Horse? Some of the bigger indies can get good talent on a couple of books, but the biggest problem for me with indie comics tends to be the art.

I don't remember the name but there's an artist who works on the Star Wars comics for Marvel who is notorious for just tracing over not only movie images, but fan made designs he finds online. And at least one point, even a Star Trek ship.

Back in 2015 when Marvel printed its first modern Star Wars comic, it became not only one of the best-selling comics of the century but got enormous praise from everyone and I thought I was insane because so much of it was just the artist tracing shots of Han, Luke, and Leia from the original movies.

Not sure if this is who you mean, but further reading on some instances of them copying artwork for ships:

That's Sal Larocca but Greg Land is the more famous tracer.

I don't know if Larocca is tracing or if he is just over-reliant on and extremely good at reproducing reference materials, because his composition tends to be pretty good.

His style works better with Darth Vader

Even more apparent in a page with faces

All that being said, the Darth Vader Marvel books are insanely good.

Trying to act like online is separate from real life is a real weird take in this decade, after several decades of the internet extending our reality and being able to communicate with just about everyone any time. It was easier to be bigoted and prejudiced when bigots might never hear from someone and how they affect them, when they could just silence them but people are able to speak up for themselves these days and folks should pay attention. Simple as that, listen and stop trying to dismiss.

For some people it is very separate, for others it is very not. To me it seems like the former group is doing better.

DO YOU HEAR THAT? THAT'S THE SOUND OF ME PATTING MYSELF ON THE BACK.

That's because it's not an actual take, it was a carefully scripted response designed to deflect criticism without taking a stance on it so as to not distract from their media blitz.

I have absolutely no evidence either way. I expect, being a cohort composed of regular human beings, that some are and some are not.

How about for media company executives at on the record Q&As at press events? The expectation is radio and print only, I guess.

Sounds like there's no real separation, just some folks and parties very interested in ignoring the concerns of others for their own benefit

A detailed synopsis is up on the film’s Wikipedia page and it sounds incredibly tedious, with a big third act twist that flubs the landing.

So, you know, a standard Ari Aster movie.
