New Perk Deck!
We just added a new Perk Deck for you wankers, completely for free. The aptly named “Leech” perk deck, revolving around gaining health through ridiculously excessive violence. The perk deck allows its user to recover health for themselves, and their allies, in addition to increasing your overall health.

When activating the Leech Ampule that takes the place of your throwable, you will lose all your armor and in return, your health will get divided into between 5-10 segments. If you are not at full health, you will instantly heal up to 40% of your maximum health.

While it’s active you can only take one segment of health worth of damage from any one source at the time. When taking damage you'll transfer health to your fellow crewmates. Your pain is their gain.

And as the last Leech up your sleeve, the Leech Ampule can even be activated while you are bleeding out. If you are downed and activate the Leech Ampule, it will temporarily revive you. If you manage to revive a fallen crewmate or use a doctor bag, before the timer runs out, you'll keep on your feet and be able to stay in the fight.

I apparently haven't played since October 2014, and getting an Oculus made me reinstall. I had nearly 200 hours back in the day, but I suspect things have changed a lot since then. I think I stopped playing shortly after or before all the weapons and DLC (up to that point) became free. How can I best on-board myself to the last seven (jesus) years of changes?

Edit: Should I be getting the Silk Road collection? It looks like a ton of missions, like a more proper expansion pack. Is that accurate?

EDIT EDIT: it must've been 2017 or so, because I have John Wick and used him a bunch, though I don't recall him having specific heists.

EDIT EDIT EDIT: I think the last major event I did was the cops raiding the hideout and dying immediately to my stupidly overpowered (at the time) guns.

There's been a metric fuckload of changes. You can use almost anything and still do well up to death wish, but some things are more overpowered than others. There's also damage dropoff added, so

There's the legacy edition which bundles everything pre 2018. Post 2018 has the silk road stuff, technically 5 Mexican heists, a bunch of cosmetics, and more weapons, some of which are actually very fun and good.

Right now there is a City Of Gold storyline/dlc saga going on, focusing on triad stuff. No complete bundle for that yet, but there's been 3 new heists since, yet more weapon packs(including a new underbarrel grenade launcher assault rifle!) and cosmetics.

The game is still fun and has a lot of activity, especially for something from 2013. I'd say hop in and check out the changes available in the base game, and if you wanna get back into payday, the Mexican/Chinese DLC stuff is pretty worthwhile. Some of it is rather poopy though(like cartel optics) but overall it's not bad.

Also did I mention LMGs are the most overpowered weapon class now with 80/120 damage a pop with hundreds of bullets and there is also a 1700+ ammo flamethrower available in the base game, no DLC of any kind needed?

Highlights:
Fletchette ammo is pretty useless now, and that made the double barrels exceptionally good. The double barrels themselves are still okay, but there's just better stuff if you wanna kill armored cops in 1 headshot and have more ammo or not reload every second etc.

Reinfeld 88(gunslinger weapon pack) and mosconi 12g tactical (smuggler 1 weapon pack; both sold separately from the legacy bundle) are both very good for pumps, first prefers berserker+frenzy while the latter prefers a regular shotgun build with impact and overkill. Can kill tan cops in 1 headshot, tasers/medics fall in 2 with buckshot.

Grimm secondary is overpowered as hell with dragon's breath because you will never, ever, run out of ammo. Akimbo grimm primary is fun with buckshot.

Izhma is still overpowered for death sentence with shotgun overkill+crits from concealment. Stakeout 12g is still viable on death wish with buckshot and shotgun overkill.

Breaker still has no ammo unless you use fully loaded.

i’m still upset about the breaker nerf. even with fully loaded aced it just can’t keep up with its ammo consumption

This does not make sense when, again, aggregate indicia also indicate improvements. The belief that things are worse is false. It remains false.

Did anyone ever made a mod that makes it suitable for fewer players? I remember the bots being a bit terrible in that they don't do objectives, so a single-player round is mostly carrying a hundred bags yourself.

At some point they changed it so you can chuck bags at the bots to have them carry a bag and later retrieve the bag from them, so now 8 bags is two trips instead of eight.

there is or at least was a mod that made it so you could carry more bags. it’s technically cheating but makes playing solo or with one other person a lot more bearable

By request, the thread is resurrected with yet another return of the
DLC Effortpost:

I'll finish this post up through the present shortly.

None of the Payday 2 DLC is terrible these days, but some is more worth the money than others- you won't find much DLC that's "mandatory" to play the game, but just because I call something "good, but skippable", bear in mind that's not condemnation. If you like the sound of it (or want to support further development), it's worth buying. I have purchased every DLC at launch and have no regrets. You do not need heist DLC to play the heist- you just can't host it. Every DLC has associated achievements except for soundtrack DLC and recent cosmetics.

Following the end of the "main story" of payday 2, content has been released using a season format, with several small DLC available individually or in "bundles" that combine a heist, a weapon pack, and some cosmetic DLC in different arrangements for a discount. Each entire season also gets a "collection" discounted release. I note each of these, but discounts may shift over time; make purchasing decisions accordingly.

Character Packs include a character (entirely cosmetic) and a perk deck and weapon (sometimes worth it). Character preference is purely subjective.

Most DLC that comes with masks also has various mask customization stuff. Aside from mentioning the number of masks and their theme I won't go into them.

PAYDAY 2: Winter Ghosts Tailor Pack $2.99
A polar-izing combo of four frost-themed masks, two winter wear outfits with 4 variants each, four more weapon paint jobs, and four more charms. Not necessary.

NOTE: The below three DLC are available in the Black Cat Bundle for a slight discount.

PAYDAY 2: Black Cat Heist $6.99
Yacht Heist meets Golden Grin with a fairly zippy and well-made assault on an illicit offshore casino ship. A combo of engaging and variable loud options (including an inventive vault airlift), with mostly good stealth (including some skippable objectives), this heist is some good fun, though its replay value is limited. Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: Jiu Feng Smuggler Pack 3 $3.99
This pack comes with a fairly limited AR (it has a DMR, but no "custom" mod slot, meaning if it's not running DMR it's locked to full auto), a gimmicky pistol with an underbarrel shotgun. The third weapon is a new armor-piercing revolver- a straight upgrade to the 5/7 (no akimbo, alas). Also comes with four weapon paint jobs and four charms, basically backpack straps for your gun. Get this if you're one of the people rocking the 5/7. Otherwise, it's Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: Mega City Tailor Pack $2.99
A collection of cosmetics, including an outfit with variants ripping off imitating a prominent Chinese Drip fashion brand, a "cyberpunk" trenchcoat, 4 similarly styled gloves and 4 masks. Not necessary.

NOTE: The below three DLC are available in the Ukrainian Prisoner Bundle for a slight discount.

PAYDAY 2: The Ukrainian Prisoner Heist $6.99
Vlad's been kidnapped by the Golden Sword Triad and is being tortured for information about the gang in San Fran harbor. You must find him, rescue him, and get him to an escape vehicle. It doesn't sound like much, but this is perhaps the most well-balanced and designed heist in years, with fair stealth, loud gameplay and a lot of options, including a spin on the Hoxton Dreakout day 1 formula. Only some BS achievements hold it back. Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: Jiu Feng Smuggler Pack 2 $3.99
The star of this weapon pack is an electric grenade stun grenade that stuns enemies for 3 seconds while also doing damage (and sparing civilians). Unfortunately, it doesn't apply the accuracy debuff of the concussion grenade, making it pretty strictly inferior. The new nade can be fired from the underbarrel of an assault rifle that comes with the pack (your only option for an underbarrel grenade launcher if you didn't get the Scarface pack when it was available). This new AR can also fire frag nades, and is arguably superior to the Little Friend on a numbers level. It also comes with a fairly generic light sniper rifle and SMG (including the usual akimbo), and 10 quite good China-themed weapon paint jobs. Get this if you missed out on the Little Friend, or like its playstyle; otherwise, it's Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: Guardians Tailor Pack $2.99
Two outfits ripping off paying homage to modern Chinese streetwear fashion, with four variations each. Also, two sets of gloves with 4 color variants each, and four nifty Chinese zodiac-themed respirators lower face masks. Not necessary.

NOTE: The below two DLC are available in the Dragon Heist Bundle for a slight discount.

PAYDAY 2: Dragon Pack $6.99
The gang has met Chinese smuggler Jiu Feng, who is betraying his employers in the Golden Sword Triad to help you steal a jade dragon statue they're planning to auction. What could possibly go wrong? In addition, the heist comes with a set of 4 Indochinese masks, two similarly themed outfits (including a Wushu martial arts outfit and some Triad duds, with the usual 4 variants each) and 4 sets of gloves. The heist includes loud and stealth, with a number of interesting objectives and lotsa optional loot (plus a bullshit speedrun achievement). Much better than the Mexican heists. Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: Jiu Feng Smuggler Pack $3.99
The first weapon pack of the season includes a pistol (with akimbos), a secondary AR, and a primary shotgun that competes with the Reinfeld 88. The other weapons are largely unremarkable. Also comes with a full 20 weapon paint jobs, in a large variety of patterns. Not necessary unless you really like to tweak your shotgun builds.

Everything from here down through the Border Crossing Heist is part of the Silk Road Collection, which contains the "2020 season" of content that happened in Mexico fighting the Cartels after the main story of Payday 2 wrapped up. Buying these together nets you a 20% discount overall; You can also buy it broken down into a set of individual "bundles" at the same discount, as in notes.

NOTE: The below four DLC are available in the Buluc's Mansion Bundle for $8.05.

PAYDAY 2: Buluc's Mansion Heist $6.99
This climactic heist has you going after Buluc, the cartel head that's been giving you (and Vlad) so much grief. A heist that combines some cool decorations, setpieces and moments (Buluc dies in a special way, and it's not a bossfight) with really uneven loud difficulty and a stealth heist layout that is almost the worst in the entire series. I wanted to love the heist, but it's Not necessary.

PAYDAY 2: Gunslinger Weapon Pack $2.99
Another combo weapon pack, with a powerful lever-action sniper rifle that can replace the Contractor .308, a shotgun that's an arguable upgrade for those using spammy shotgun builds (though watch your ammo with this one!) and a stylish but unremarkable revolver (with the usual akimbo option). Get this if lever action DMR-y sniping or the Raven have been your jam. Otherwise, it's Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: Weapon Color Pack 3 $2.99
Another set of 20 weapon paint jobs, including some glossy/shiny tones, some raster patterns, and a set of pseudo-holographic ones that are quite popular. Not necessary.

PAYDAY 2: Tailor Pack 3 $2.99
2 outfits with four themes each, one for a classical duelist and one an equally classic formal suit and long coat. Each comes with 4 color variants. This pack also includes 12 sets of gloves, which include some hi-tech operator ones and, most importantly, some :squee: mittens. Good, but skippable for the mittens even on their own.

NOTE: The below three DLC are available in the Breakfast in Tijuana Bundle for $7.98.

PAYDAY 2: Breakfast in Tijuana Heist $6.99
A heist themed around rescuing Vlad's brother-in-law from Mexican police confinement. The heist is fairly generic in loud, and infamous for its reliance on item fetching and, in stealth, RNG (some of the randomized layouts are easy, some are nightmares). Not necessary.

PAYDAY 2: Fugitive Weapon Pack $2.99
A combo of an LMG, sniper rifle, and a pistol(with akimbo available too). The pistol isn't anything special, but the sniper rifle and LMG are both notable for occupying unusual niches in their respective weapon categories. If a low fire rate LMG with no tactical reload and a slow-reloading sniper rifle that's otherwise aces in the mid-tier category are up your alley, Get this. Otherwise, it's Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: Weapon Color Pack 2 $2.99
Another pack of 20 weapon colors, this time a range of camouflage themes (both realistic ones and a bunch that are more flashy). Some of my personal faves are in this set. Not necessary.

NOTE: The below four DLC are available in the San Martín Bundle for $7.91.

PAYDAY 2: San Martín Bank Heist $6.99
A Mexican bank heist with a number of interesting features in stealth and loud- although be aware that the heist is currently badly optimized. Introduces the "Federales", Mexican law enforcement reskins. These enemies are a little rough and have some bugs, but are generally regarded as much better than the Murkywater enemy reskins that have appeared in past heists. A fun heist with a fair amount going on-the sort of content we're all looking to see more of. Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: Federales Weapon Pack $2.99
Focused around a set of 3 new full auto pistols, to supplement the one already in the game. These pistols are all well-balanced, come with a decent variety of specific and general mods, and can all be used akimbo. Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: Weapon Color Pack 1 $2.99
This DLC introduced weapon paint jobs that can be applied to your guns instead of the more limited skins. Some paint jobs are freely available, some are tied to achievements, and this set of 20 straightforward colors is paid. Not necessary.

PAYDAY 2: Tailor Pack 2 $2.99
Additional costumes: punk, hippie, desperado/mariachi and a much less-well-made rapper set. 5 oufits with a total of 20 color variants, all themed around crime movie references. Purely cosmetic. Not necessary.

NOTE: The below three DLC are available in the Border Crossing Bundle for $9.98, a discount that may change how you value them.

PAYDAY 2: Border Crossing Heist $6.99
2 heists: The star is Border Crossing, a long, multi-stage, one day heist that involves crossing the border and stealing a ton of loot from a Mexican drug cartel airfield. This return to DLC releases has a fair amount of content, but is rough, as losing at the end of Border Crossing means a lengthy slog through the less interesting first part of the heist. The heist also suffers from pathfinding issues in stealth and performance issues when loud. On the other hand, it's new content. Also comes with Border Crystals, a Cook-Off type heist in the airfield. Does not come with weapons, so it's just Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: Cartel Optics Mod Pack $2.99
A small set of new optics, mods and gadgets, including a few that were popular community requests. Some offer slight advantages, but none are game-breakingly advantageous. I personally get 'em because I want the devs to release more content that's balanced. Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: Tailor Pack 1 $2.99
The first pack of new custom outfits added to the game. Some outfits come free, but this is the first paid batch, a set of 4 oufits with a total of 20 color variants, all themed around crime movie references. Purely cosmetic. Not necessary.

End of the Silk Road Bundle.

PAYDAY 2: H3H3 Character Pack $4.99
Ethan and Hila are popular youtubers (popular with people who like Vape Comedy about being rear end in a top hat slobs) who briefly had some sort of legal threat. Overkill arranged this separate, unbundled character DLC with the plan that proceeds would all go to them- but the legal threat was already resolved, so it's basically handing money to grifters doing unmotivated lines from their internet persona schtick in-game. They come with the Tag Team perk deck, which lets you press F at another player and, for a very brief period, you both regenerate health per enemy killed. This perk deck works only when two players use it and go full aggro, doing nothing to complete objectives. The DLC also comes with a unique but lousy compressed airbow (with the usual variety of arrows), a set of beanies and a melee item, all references to the characters. These are deeply unlikeable people that you are giving money for almost useless game content. Don't get this DLC.

NOTE: Almost all Payday 2 DLC below this point now comes with the Legacy Edition, so this info is less relevant. It remains as a record of impressions of the different sets of game content and how they were perceived. If you're new to the game, the Legacy Edition is generally heavily discounted and a great buy, giving you a ton of content to chew through.

PAYDAY 2: Gage Russian Weapon Pack $4.99
3 Russian guns: the concealable but slow Grom sniper, the decent AK17, and the very good Tatonka SMG. A Russian machete melee weapon(meh) and four masks, one of which is fantastic for customizations, as it's a big flat surface. The achievements are boring, the guns are pretty generic. Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: John Wick Heists $6.99
2 heists: The long-teased yacht heist, a simple, well-designed but very easily mastered stealth-only heist, and Brooklyn 10-10, a short, rough and tumble loud only heist. This involves escorting Charon, a character from the John Wick movies, voiced by his actor. It's OK, though-he's invincible. Comes with the Contractor 308, a "sniper rifle" that is basically a piercing DMR, a hook melee weapon, 2 (fabulous) nautical hats and 2 NY-themed masks. Yacht heist also has custom, incredibly rad jazz quartet music by Simon Viklund- but the limited scope of the heists leave this at Good, but skippable. Go rent/buy John Wick 2.

PAYDAY 2: Scarface Heist $6.99
A one-day heist for the Butcher to raid Tony Montana's old mansion and kill a Sosa cartel boss. Can be done stealth or loud; both are very well made and a lot of fun. Comes with the Commando 101 multi-rocket launcher (very good), an 80s cellphone melee weapon, and 4 Scarface-themed masks, patterns and materials. The real star is Simon Viklund's take on Push it to the Limit, which is the pinnacle of high art. Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: Scarface Character Pack :siren: No longer available!:siren:
Scarface (yes, Tony Montana) is Cuban, angry, loud, and voiced by the Pacino-approved successor VA. He comes with the Kingpin perk deck, which trades your throwable for a recharging adrenaline berserker ability, the "little friend" 7.62 AR and a chainsaw. The Little Friend comes with an underslung grenade launcher and functions as a GL with a DMR attached. Due to the expiration of the licensing agreement with the IP owner, this DLC is no longer available for purchase.

PAYDAY 2: Gage Spec Ops Pack $4.99
The Spec Ops Pack stars the Arbiter, an overpowered secondary grenade launcher that's by far the best secondary choice for many builds on difficulties below One Down. It has to be unlocked by completing a lengthy but fairly easy side job of collecting keys and cases in some of the multi-day launch heists. There are also 12 mods, many of them previously used by enemies. Standing out are speedloader mags, which are straight upgrades for ARs, but several others are also really fun. Also comes with 4 achievement-locked combat-themed masks, patterns and materials. A DLC to confirm your worst Pay-2-Win suspicions. Get this.

PAYDAY 2: John Wick Weapon Pack $4.99
This pack comes with three weapons: the Contractor pistol (poor ammo, comes with akimbo), Desert Fox sniper rifle (highly concealable), and Jackal SMG (fun, weird mag mod). Also comes with silent throwing knives and 4 achievement-locked Wick-themed masks, patterns, and materials. Decent, but adds nothing particularly new. Good, but skippable

PAYDAY 2: Biker Character Pack $4.99
Rust is voiced by Ron Perlman. Enough said. Ron is angry, sardonic, and probably the most profane character in the game. He comes with the Breaker, a good high damage, low ammo primary shotgun, and the Chain Whip melee weapon, which is mediocre. He also comes with the Biker Perk Deck, which awards health and armor per kill by any member of your crew, to variable benefit. Good, but skippable

PAYDAY 2: The Biker Heist $6.99
1 very fun 2-day loud heist. Day 1 is medium-length and can be tricky, but day 2 is extremely fast and very intense, set aboard a moving train. Comes with the CR 805B, a high damage smg that works best in single fire, throwing axes (similar to the javelin), and 4 biker-themed masks. Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: Sydney Character Pack $4.99
Sydney is Melburnian, punk, chipper, and great for aggravating pubbie players with voice commands. She comes with the Wing butterfly knife, which has cool animations but offers no gameplay benefit, and the drum-fed Bootleg assault rifle, which is like a mini-LMG: fun, but with very poor damage. She also brings the Anarchist perk deck, which regens armor whenever you deal damage (to great effect in sustained firefights), but minimizes your health. Recent meta changes make the Anarchist perk deck insanely powerful with certain builds. Good, but skippable.

Payday 2: Wolf Pack $6.99 (or free to owners of the original Payday Wolf Pack)
2 classic Payday 1 heists, with fairly limited alterations for Payday 2. Comes with the China Lake, a secondary grenade launcher that's part of many One Down builds, the Pounder nailgun weapon, and 4 Wolf-inspired masks. The China Lake is both very fun and an incredible utility weapon. Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: Goat Simulator Heist $6.99
A very fun 2-day loud heist, with a driving emphasis. Has some of the hardest gameplay around due to its very open maps. Comes with the GSPS, a shotgun very similar to the free Locomotive, 4 farming-themed melee weapons and Goat Simulator animal masks. Good, but skippable

PAYDAY 2: The Point Break Heists $6.99
2 very fun 1-day heists attacking Murky Water mercenaries, the Baby Deagle pistol (Spike Spiegel approved), which is a strong, but slow-firing pistol, and 4 Xtreme Sportz melee weapons and tribal imagery-themed masks. After nerfs to the Baby Deagle, this DLC is good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: Gage Chivalry Pack $4.99
A tie-in with the Chivalry competitive medieval combat game. Comes with a longbow and two crossbows, all of which are effected by gravity and can equip explosive or poisoned ammo. You can pick up ammo for these after you fire them (except the explosives, natch). Also comes with 4 melee weapons, 4 masks, and the massive damage javelin throwable, which can also be picked up(including out of enemies) for reuse. Unfortunately despite recent buffs, time has passed most of these weapons by unless you're taking a particular meta approach to the top difficulties. Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: Yakuza Character Pack $4.99
Jiro is Japanese, old, loud, and speaks only Japanese in heists. Like Chewie, everyone understands him. He comes with the low health berzerker-based Yakuza perk deck, the katana and a micro-uzi. The katana is an excellent melee weapon; Jiro screams while wielding it and he bisects cloakers with it. Other melee weapons are about equal now, though. Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: Gage Ninja Pack $4.99
Comes with an ok SMG (Kross Vertex) and sniper rifle (the Lebensauger, a W2000 ripoff), and a weird, weak pistol crossbow that can fire normal, poisoned (poison applies a DoT and makes enemies barf, doing a ton of damage when it comes from projectile weapons) or explosive bolts that are effected by gravity. Also has 4 melee weapons, one of which is (very weakly) poisoned, and 4 :japan: masks. Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: Sokol Character Pack $4.99
Sokol is Russian, charming, quirky, and a criminal prodigy/safecracker/hockey player. He has excellent pager lines, and occasionally reveals underlying psychotic rage. He comes with the strange Valkyria AR, which has a built-in silencer, and a hockey stick melee weapon. He also comes with the Grinder perk deck, which heals you whenever you deal damage if you are wearing little or no armor. This perk deck is fun, but rebalances mean it's no longer as overpowered as it once was. Good, but skippable

PAYDAY 2: The Golden Grin Casino Heist $6.99
Golden Grin was hyped as a huge casino heist with a year of lead-in advertising. Unfortunately it was made by Lion Game Lion, a Croatian co-production company that was less familiar with the development tools, and it launched with a ton of bugs. Overkill have patched the heist heavily since, and it's now very fun, though still not quite as great as promised. Comes with the Cavity, a weird, high-damage low-ammo folding semiauto-only AR that's part of some One Down meta builds, 4 Vegas-themed melee weapons(including a stun rod which is also in the One Down meta) and 4 Vegas heist move reference masks. Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: The Alesso Heist $6.99
An OK one-day heist themed around pulling off a heist at a concert by Alesso, a popular EDM DJ. Can be stealthed, but very frustrating to do. Comes with an Alesso track tied to the heist, a fun, powerful revolver (the Matever), 4 music-themed melee weapons and 4 weird masks. Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: The OVERKILL B-Sides Soundtrack $0.99
Adds a large number of more limited or secondary tracks to the ingame soundtrack system. Not necessary.

PAYDAY 2: The Butcher's Western Pack $4.99
Three weapons: A six-shooter (the Peacemaker), an old-timey lever action sniper rifle (Repeater 1874), and a bow (the Plainsrider) that comes with arrows that you can pick up after firing(including out of enemies) or explosive arrows(you can't pick these up, surprise). The guns are unfortunately rather weak. Also lets players use throwable dynamite as grenades. Dynamite has a longer fuse and can't be shot out of the air by enemies. Comes with 4 West-themed melee weapons and 4 West-themed masks (surprise). Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: The Butcher's BBQ Pack $4.99
Adds three weapons: a multi-chamber grenade launcher(the Piglet), a shotgun and incendiary ammo for both weapon types, and, oh yes, a flamethrower. See this? :kingsley: Cops do this when you set them on fire- and fire penetrates enemy armor and shields. Fire (from any source) is second only to explosives in many situations. Also gives the player molotov cocktails, which serve a good area denial purpose. Also comes with 4 fire-themed masks. Get this.

PAYDAY 2: The Butcher's AK/CAR Mod Pack $4.99
10 weapon mods for AKs and 10 weapon mods for CAR rifles. These mods are quite good and supersede a number of mods from the Mod Courier Pack. Do note, though, that the mods are locked behind a few annoying achievements that will take a team to get. Also comes with 4 dinosaur masks. If you like ARs, Get this. Otherwise, it's Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: The OVERKILL Pack $4.99
Gives you a minigun, which is like an LMG but more so, and the RPG, which is really great at instantly downing your teammates with friendly fire- regrettably it's now outclassed by the Commando 101. Also gives you an escape van skin with the Overkill logo and a similarly branded hat mask. Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: Dragan Character Pack $4.99
Dragan is Croatian, loud, angry, and voiced by actual convicted bank robber/actor Dragomir Mršić, whose lines aren't quite as interesting as some others, sadly. Comes with the close-range combat Infiltrator perk deck, melee weapon and an OK AR, the Lion's Roar. Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: The Bomb Heists $6.99
2 heists made by Lion Game Lion, a Croatian co-production company that had a rocky development history - they had less time to learn OVK's mapping tools, and the heists were buggy at launch. They've since been fixed up and are a good change of pace. Also comes with the average Leo pistol and 4 meat and croatia-themed masks. Recent rebalances and bugfixes from Overkill make this DLC Good, but skippable. Watch out for falling damage on Bomb: Forest!

NOTE: Everything after this point(aside from the other NOTE) was in the GOTY edition for $50. GOTY's content is static- it's not all the DLC, and the amount doesn't "shift"- it's always these. I recommend waiting for a sale and getting GOTY for all of these, plus a couple masks.

PAYDAY 2: Clover Character Pack $2.99
Clover is Irish, loud, angry, and very fun. Her perk deck, Burglar, is really good for stealth (but only for stealth), and her gun, the Queen's Wrath AR, is good but unremarkable. Also comes with a shillelagh melee weapon. Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: The Diamond Heist $3.99
Gives an OK, complex one-day heist that is very hectic when played loud. Also comes with 4 mythology-themed masks. Since it comes without weapons and others can host DLC heists, not necessary.

PAYDAY 2: Gage Historical Pack $2.99
Gives WWII-themed weapons: a Patchett SMG (godawful), a Nagant sniper rifle (enh), a LMG (The "Buzzsaw" MG42) and a Mauser pistol, the "Broomstick". Also gives 4 similarly themed melee weapons and masks. Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: Hotline Miami $3.99
3 SMGs(Cobra, Blaster, and Uzi, all OK), 4 brutal melee weapons, 4 masks, and a fun 2 day loud heist that can be unusually intense. Owning this DLC and the original Hotline Miami adds an additional briefcase melee weapon and 4 more masks. Good, but skippable.

NOTE: Buying the Deluxe Edition of Hotline Miami 2 ($19.99) gives you the Jacket character (protagonist of Hotline Miami 1), the melee-based Sociopath perk deck, Jacket's Piece (a good SMG), and hammer melee weapon. Owning any version of the game unlocks 6 additional masks. Jacket communicates entirely using a tape recorder, which is fun at first, but...Hotline Miami 2 remains divisive and less popular than the original, and relatively speaking it costs a lot to get. Not Recommended, unless it goes on sale.

PAYDAY 2: Gage Assault Pack $2.99
A variety of fun weapons, including a singlefire grenade launcher (GL40, now outclassed), bullethose AR (Clarion) and 2 fun normal ARs (Gecko and Gewehr). Also includes 4 melee weapons and 4 comics-themed masks. Infamous for locking weapon mods behind fairly annoying achievements. Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: Gage Shotgun Pack $2.99
Three OK shotguns(M1014, Raven and the Street Sweeper), four melee weapons and 4 monkey masks. The star of this DLC, though, is custom shotgun ammo- explosive, flechette, 000(damage buff), and single-pellet slug rounds. If you like shotguns, Get this. Otherwise, it's good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: The Big Bank Heist $3.99
A massive heist with lots of planning options that many think is the best in the game-but you only need the DLC to host it. Comes with the fun Falcon rifle and four president masks based on their appearance on dollar bills. Good, but skippable. If there were a single heist DLC to get, this is it.

PAYDAY 2: Gage Sniper Pack $2.99
Three Sniper rifles, including two mediocre ones (R93 and Rattlesnake) and what is basically an antitank rifle (the Thanatos). One sniper rifle is available for free and others are found in other DLC, but these are still fun. Sniper rifles can penetrate some cover and enemy shields/armor, and rebalances have given them some specific endgame utility- with the right skills. Also comes with the (worthless) ability to activate vantage point assets and 4 insect masks. Weapon mods for these sniper rifles are locked behind achievements. Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: Gage Mod Courier $2.99
You've probably seen color-coded packages you can pick up in maps. Getting enough of a given color when you have this DLC will give you one of every mod in that color's set. These mods are free to attach and remove from guns. Many of these 28 mods are particularly good, stats-wise. Later DLC has reduced some of their utility, but they're still highly recommended to make your weapons more effective.
Also lets you customize the reticule on your gun sights. Get this.

PAYDAY 2: Gage Weapon Pack #02 $2.99
Knives (the first melee weapons in the game), 3 LMGs (the KSP, Brenner 21 from payday 1, and RPK), and 4 masks. You can get 1 LMG with the base game and several others from other DLC, though.Good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: A Merry Payday Christmas Soundtrack $0.99
Access to additional tracks in the ingame soundtrack options and 3 fun santa masks. Not necessary.

PAYDAY 2: Gage Weapon Pack #01 $2.99
Frag Grenades(which are also now available by default), three OK weapons (Sig 40 pistol, Eagle AR, SpecOps SMG), four animal masks, and single and autofire mods that provide stat bonuses in trade for removing the ability to switch between single and semiauto fire. Most guns are way better in one mode or another, so these mods are a straight upgrade. Also lets you purchase throwable weapon refill assets to place in heists. Worth it for the firing mode mods. Get this.

PAYDAY 2: Armored Transport $3.99
The first paid DLC.
A large set of decent, very quick attacks on armored car shipments and a slower, stealthable job targeting a stationary train. Three weapons (Gruber Kurz pistol, the nice Commando AR, and the lousy Swedish K). 4 presidential masks. This DLC has some particularly grindy achievements. Originally terribad, but patches have made this good, but skippable.

PAYDAY 2: The Official Soundtrack $2.99
Access to additional tracks in the ingame soundtrack options and some highly variable extra masks. Not necessary.

You can rock an akimbo version of the smuggler 3 underbarrel pistol, plus hilarious shotgun overkill+pistol trigger happy synergy if you like all out damage gimmicks. The armor piercing revolver is the one that cannot be used in an akimbo variant, though it does get waaaaay more ammo from pickups than the 5/7. And it does over 220 damage, how can you not like it :torgue:

If you have the legacy bundle I'd say the only definitive "get this for sure" packs after are Gunslinger if you love berserker+frenzy (and it transforms the sniper rifle into genuinely a top 5 if not top 3 weapon) and smuggler 2 if you missed out on Scarface and don't have the little friend so you can get its replacement with a speedpull mag.

Thanks, I'll edit accordingly; I was pulling from online discussions of some of the guns, as I've not dug into most of them.

edit: updated. I'll go through and check the older material for things to fix later.

:pcgaming: The fourth and final bone smuggler pack is out :pcgaming:

quote:

Jiu Feng Smuggler Pack 4
This weapon pack is all about secondary weapons, the loyal companions, the friends in need, the aces up your sleeves. First up in the pack is the Argos III Shotgun, a futuristic shotgun that packs a mean punch. With its custom compensator, stock, and side-mounted ammo cache this beast will dominate the battlefield. The second piece of hardware on the table is the Wasp-DS SMG. You can bring one of these bad boys as the backup gun or as your main dealer of carnage as it sings of lead and violence into the evening of San Francisco. The extra grip, special magazine, and new stock will make this SMG a joy to bring on any heist. And lastly, something completely different, a pistol unlike any other. The Gecko M2 Pistol is a one-handed power-house built for stealth but holds its own in a firefight. This pistol does not only feature a built-in suppressor but also cartridges powerful enough to push a full-grown man off his feet upon impact. For the ambidextrous heisters, two of these pistols will certainly make plenty of helmets fly.

Better than smuggler 1/cartel optics at least

These weapons all appear to fill some interesting niches; the silenced pistol with push may well become a new stealth meta.

Pictured: what the Crackdown team's been doing to crash bugs introduced by the latest updates. We just launched a major combined update that adds more to the player side rebalance and fixes all them bugs.

Available here. As always, back up your savefile and be aware that later updates will first be available from the experimental branch on our github.

If you truly want to poop sock it the answer is turrets on the train at the end of prison nightmare; the cops climbing the bridge/train count and respawn almost instantly. I think I was getting around 60k an hour when I tried it.

Oh yeah, I certainly don’t advise it; it’s something to work on as/after you’ve done everything else and are just farming infamy levels.
