Trump didn't do poo poo, a huge majority of the covid benefits was from Bernie Sanders threatening to deep-six the country if regular people didn't get 1/20 of what was being handed directly to megacorporations and the worst fascist small business owners. Trump just signed off on it so everyone could get his signature in the mail.

It may also be about struggle between corporations for the declining surplus value. If you have your own source of electricity, that's one more supplier who you don't need to care about and can cut out. Kind of the corporate equivalent of the super rich starting to suck dry some of the lower echelons of the upper class because the middle and lower classes are no longer enough. The Gilded Age had a lot of vertical integration too, if I'm remembering right.

The problem is that the "function of a system is what it does" interpretation of this inevitably leads to:
- Bernie (and leftlibs in general) will be firebrands as long as it's against Trump. Biden? Apparently not. Haley? Odds don't look good. The torturer with the sonnenrad campaign ads? Not even seeing much here.
- If Trump did not, unlike Biden, effectively promote it, and I don't think he did, then Trump, still unlike Biden, did not effectively stand in its way.

1. Reject as propaganda any account of Soviet history during the Stalin period that by its rhetoric moralizing loaded language, vituperation, etc. shows that the author is not objective.

2. Reject as propaganda all accounts that refer to the Soviet Union as totalitarian, that use the terms Stalinist or Stalinism, that call Stalin a dictator, that claim the Soviet Union was ruled by terror or he used the term Great Terror instead of Yezhovshchina or bad time of Yezhov, that refer to the Gulag as death camps or the prisoners of slaves, that claim that Capitalist and imperialist states are democracies. Reject them.

3. Reject as propaganda any work that in any way attempts to compare the Stalin-era Soviet Union to Hitlerite Germany or Stalin to Hitler.

4. Reject as propaganda any writing that affirms the halatomor, that the Moscow trials were frame-ups, that Stalin had people shot, that collectivization was not necessary, that industrialization was brutal or didn't work.

5. Avoid all Trotskyist accounts about the Soviet Union including about Lenin, Stalin, Socialism in one country, or about Trotsky himself. No Trotskyist has questioned the cult of personality around Trotsky himself. No Trotskyists strive for objectivity. All Trotskyists fall afoul of confirmation bias.

6. Avoid specifically the site M*rxis dot org unless there is some text on that site that cannot be gotten in digital format anywhere else.

7. Reject any so-called Marxist theory that is not based on practice. That means that all theory that assumes the Khrushchev and post-Khrushchev lies about Soviet history of the Stalin period is false and has nothing to offer. Sure there may be a needle of truth in the haystack of empty verbiage but it'll take too much time to find it if it's there at all. Only theory based on an accurate understanding of the history of the Soviet Union during the Stalin years can possibly have anything beneficial to offer those of us who want to learn from the successes, and the failures of the Soviet union in order to do better next time.

8. Remember why all these anti-Communist anti-Stalin lies and propaganda exist in the first place. They exist because of the magnificent achievements of the Stalin years of the Soviet union. To name just a few

  • Collectivization of agriculture ending the thousand-plus year cycle of devastating famines.

  • Industrialization accomplishing in little more than a decade, and entirely without foreign investment relying solely on the Soviet working class and peasantry.

  • The defeat of the Nazi hordes and their allies.

  • The worldwide spread of the Communist movement through the Comintern.

  • The fight against racism. The fight against racism was pioneered in the Soviet Union.

  • The fight against discrimination against women. This is where International Women's Day was a holiday and the only place it was a holiday until in the 1960s.

Provision to all workers of:

  • Inexpensive housing

  • Inexpensive public transportation

  • Free education

  • Free higher education

  • Annual vacations

  • Universal medical care

  • Retirement and old age pensions

These are the some of the magnificent results of the Stalin era in the Soviet Union. That's why it's attacked.

  • The successful fight against the imperialism of the so-called democracies, democratic Capitalist countries

  • The big boost to unionization of workers in industrial countries

  • Forcing the Capitalist states to provide some degree of social welfare benefits for working people in order to blunt the attraction of the Communist movement

These are just a few of the reasons why pro-Capitalist and phony leftist pseudo-scholars falsify, distort, and just plain lie about Soviet history of the Stalin period.
