The more serious turns that he did like the Rudy Ray Moore film and Dreamgirls are merely blips in an otherwise uninterrupted downward trajectory. In the original solo Blade comic he is arrested for murder by Scotland Yard after he slays a vampire and they have to let him go because it turns out the victim had been dead for six months beforehand making it not technically murder but at worst desecration of a corpse. Taxes work the same way.
