Heran Bago posted:It's because the shader compilation stutter is atrocious on PC and subverted on Deck. Is this why the game sometimes takes like 1-2 minutes to load when I launch it on PC? Like, not load on a loading screen, but straight up opens a black screen and appears to hang for a bit? It doesn't happen every time, but every once in a while it does that.

If it arrives DOA I'm taking it right to Valve. FedEx has the package now. Asking when it was coming was the key from packaged to shipping.

But I installed using Wine. S where did it create the mod folder? I'm a big dum who cannot virtual machine. Wine will have created a "prefix" to run Open X-Com Extended in, which is a folder containing a small, self-contained Windows install for the game to run in. Each game gets its own prefix. The prefix will have a \Users\someone\Documents folder in it and that's where your mods should go I would think. You just have to find the prefix folder and dig around under it.

Sent a replacement request to Valve about my limited edition Deck having three dead pixels and freezing issues. They refused and pasted a bunch of “Tips for not freezing your Steam Deck.” I wrote a new ticket saying their response was unacceptable and they gave me the RMA request. In case anybody else has issues.

Started playing Murder by Numbers on my Deck, it's my first real experience with Picross/nonogram puzzles. I'm enjoying it so far, I just escaped from the break room that the cops locked the cast in and found the autopsy report for the dead guy. I did have a problem the first time I booted it up where after a while it just seemed to... stop responding to input, I'm chalking that up to the game being an epic freebie I'm playing through Heroic.

I'm sure its been said to death by now, but the "Act 3 of Baldur's Gate 3 is unplayable on Deck" stuff is either overblown or was fixed in post-release patches. I'm a little into the point of no return at the end of the game and I've honestly not had any issues outside of very occasional texture pop-in.

If you have an OLED Deck you'll likely get five or six hours of playtime with the same settings. I absolutely love these philosophical, creepy games about what it is to be human. Just scratches an existential itch for me really, really well.

Man FF14 is such a pain in the dick account wise. I haven’t bought endwalker yet but saw it was on sale for $19 this week. I figured I’d just spend the extra $10 and get the complete edition so I can have it on steam. Well turns out you can’t have the regular PC version and steam version on the same account lol. So dumb.

It's one of the main reasons I refuse to play anything FF Online related, it's account system has been awful forever.

Not to mention how ff14 favors so many free people like how you can play up to a certain level and expansion for free (and they've raised this cap) But if you paid for one month of service in the past you're denied that. And it's a pain in the rear end to do a new account especially because of how it links to your stuff.

I think it's got something to do with how the accounts are set up or something, I dunno. I do know that you can add GW2 as a non-Steam game, and then there's a workaround to bypass the launcher, and the only real issue is that you have to remember to buy expansions through the GW2 website and not Steam but it still works.

Yeah, the work-around for GW2 is to make it launch a different way because it checks if it's a Steam version or a Windows version at the launcher-level only. FF14 does it at the license level, making it annoying as poo poo. I use the Steam version, and thankfully XIVlauncher works with it
