I remember RGIII looked pretty electric his rookie year. Both games vs the Giants were close, I think Victor Cruz had a last min 70 yard TD to ice the game. The game @ WAS I think we lost, but it was close. I dunno poo poo was over 10 years ago. Shame he blew out his knee and sucked. e: lol its all on Youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2InxFdibnw davecrazy fucked around with this message at 15:50 on Jan 19, 2024 |

Yeah, like Mac Jones. He was failed, he also sucks, but he was clearly failed by the coaching / talent around him.

There were ten weeks there where it didn't look like he could be stopped. Just too good a runner and passer for defenses to be able to do anything.

# ? Jan 19, 2024 16:09 |

Yeah. He performed well in the Shanahan offense and was unstoppable until the Seattle playoff game and the divot

He initially got hurt in the game against the Ravens when he dove straight into Haloti Ngata. Then Kirk Cousins completed their comeback and they won which caused the firing of Cam Cameron. Then they inexplicably had him back out there in the playoff game against Seattle where everyone knew it was a bad idea especially with the condition of the field and to no one's surprised he had a major knee injury and was never the same after. He absolutely didn't "suck" that season. He looked like he was going to be a major force for years to come but his recklessness and that field condition is what ended his starting career. That's why I always appreciate how Lamar mostly doesn't do that kind of thing and is good at avoiding major hits despite not really sliding a lot

Lamar and Allen took a while to develop into NFL tier passers and wouldn’t have gotten the chance if they couldn’t run.

It's a shame, because I think he could have turned out really well with a couple years as a starter under Shanahan.

He is a really unfortunate development arc. Injury, injury injury, no playing time. Then when he was healthy, he was afraid to make any mistakes so took a while to warm up. Then he got pissed because Purdy was named starter and demanded a trade. I can't think of any other high draft pick that had as frustrating a start to a career as his.
