Also, note that he has to shift the handmaids off of strictly religious points because religion is good in this comic. (Well, it is now, anyway.) The response "may the Lord open" is supposed to be an earnest supplication to God to bring fertility to the handmaids... with an edge of fear, of course, because a woman's utility in that world has been directly tied to her fertility and fertility is rare. It's a criticism of how this sort of fundamentalist Christian views women, but since those people are part of Ishida's fanbase now, he's clumsily making it into a financial reference instead.  Tatusya Ishida initiating a "clever" plot device so he doesn't have to wait for a few months to draw this character.  Okay, so, according to this comic, this year gets raised in hell by demons and/or FBI agents and/or sex pests. I'm sure that'll be fascinating when we get back to it in eleven and a half months.
