If you have three helldivers, one at each button hitting them on CD and some turrets you can pull through.

Used this strat to great effect in a couple on suicidal early today.

squadmate and i doing a charger mission, I throw a seaf artillery beacon down and squeak out the meekest "incoming" on voice chat a split second before he and the charger were reduced to ash freedom dust. we had a good laugh and liberated that stretch of cinder :patriot:

Nah it's the same issue on bot side where if you don't have someone with a way to deal with the drop ships you're just hosed as people suck at killing bots quickly

It's kind of a similar issue imo just faction-wide instead of vs specific mobs like chargers/titans. Like Diligence takes out almost every medium bot without too much trouble if you can aim, and autocannon or railgun also wrecks them all, but if you're just using a Liberator on full auto they're going to take a while. I actually love seeing Hulks now because the Railgun takes them out with one shot super easily. If you jumped in with an SMG, a Stalwart, and some Napalm drops instead, tho, you're in for a Not Fun time

It's about time for my once per decade ban for being a consistently terrible poster.
The answer there though is "Be high enough level". If you aren't, you are just hosed. Or if you fall behind, or if you lag, or if someone drops. They are tuned a bit high, that poo poo should be Helldiver difficulty stuff, not like 5 ratings below hard.

Did some more helldivin, eventually got paid but couldn't get any of the various stores to actually sell me anything. I leveled up to ten (probably 11 by the time the rest of the rewards kick in), looking forward to morning when hopefully(?) I'll have an even bigger stack of currencies and I can actually buy all the cool gear I've been looking at for so long.

Maybe the issue with robot difficulty is less they're not tuned properly and more we haven't solved the meta of the game a week after release. I'm also willing to buy they're supposed to seem stronger right now as a lore thing, and the anti automaton gear isn't in the game yet and 'gets developed' as a result of the campaign. Yes, I realize these are two 100% contradictory positions.

Also wow went to work out expecting the game to be playable around midnight, nope servers are still on fire.

A friend and I have been duoing challenging/hard missions for the past few nights, and it's some of the most fun times I've had in video games. It's just such an absolute blast getting our asses in some insane and hectic mess and then trying to get out of it. Often these insane and hectic messes are at least partially self-inflicted which makes it just all the more better.

I have a general feeling the spawns in the game are bugged, though, because last night most of our games were Turbo Vietnam II: Hitler's Back, with literally non-stop bug swarms running at us from all directions and I poo poo you not six or seven Chargers chasing us around with all their buddies.

I gotta say, the Expendable Anti-Tank Launcher is a god-sent for these trying times. A short cooldown means you can have it almost always, and while it doesn't insta-kill Chargers at challenging/hard, a couple of them will wreck their poo poo.

But man, before the launch I was extremely lukewarm on Helldivers 2 and now it's one of the best games I've played in recent years. They just nail that Starship Troopers feeling and tone absolutely perfectly.

Duos is crazy fun especially on those difficulties. In some ways I like it better than a full squad. it just feels more tactical.

The best way by far to kill chargers is to use something that can crack armor(like an expendable anti-tank, or a couple of railgun shots) on one of their legs.
Then once the armor is broken, shoot the leg with a normal gun.

The reason this works so well is that charger's back weakpoint takes 10% damage from normal ballistic guns, and 100% from explosive guns. Which is why they take so loving long to kill shooting their rear end.
But if you break their leg armor and shoot them there, they take 100% damage and keel over very quickly.

Flamethrowers also kill them pretty quickly. And as long as you're killing them quickly, you can keep situations with them under control much better.

autocannons also pop their butts very quickly, around 3 shots i feel. that said, the charger butt legit has a tricky hitbox on top of the drat thing being squirrelly as gently caress

You've got to know, to understand,
Baby, take me by my hand,
I'll lead you to the promised land.
I still like the autocannon against bots. If you hit the big ones in the visor they're basically dead. Tanks are a use case for 110s. Eagle runs are still gold. Last slot is a toss up for me depending on the mission, but if it's defence I bring a Tesla tower (then watch the pubbie moths run at it).

Finally got to level 10 and unlocked the autocannon. I see now why everyone loves this chunky beast.

Also dropped on a stalker nest. Apparently a lot of people don't look around before summoning their gear, meanwhile I'm a paranoid rear end in a top hat about hot drops so I turned 180 and chucked a grenade in it before anyone finished entering their konami codes.

Right. I am convinced that the server fuckery has also made the Eagle rockets even MORE hosed. They have gone from a coinflip of "missed a stationary target" vs "Finished the job without even looking I love you" to 100% missing even stationary unaware targets nonstop :argh:

Added insult to injury. I never got around to buying the basic eagle airstrike. And the insanity means I can't buy it even if I want to :saddowns:

I also tried to take advantage of learning that orbital beacons will stick to enemies, who in turn want to charge you. "Wait, I could do that to chargers!" and of course, they simply bounce off of them instead.

I ALSO learned that landing your pod on a charger... Seems to give them some bleed out time instead of instantly killing them oh no (Or maybe I was running away afraid of it taking me with me for nothing).

So when the game bugs out after a mission and shows everyone at level 0, you not only don't get exp; but you don't get anything from that mission. No medals, or if you found super credits: no super credits. It's really lovely this game launched so broken.

I've had that happen a few times and then later got everything after restarting the game.

Note: this can take hours as the servers are overloaded and on fire.

That's not a total excuse. This was a way bigger launch than the first game that's been promoted quite a lot by Sony and the gaming media in general. Yeah it's a massive hit but I think they should've been prepared for pretty large numbers. Maybe but with the hardware but with a plan to expand if this kind of thing came to pass.

I didn't see it really, but I generally don't pay attention to console stuff so I wasn't looking. It's still blowing up a lot faster than anyone planned for.

I love how much charm and detail there is in the game. From your CAS planes dropping flares as they climb for height to the fact that when you go prone you're not just belly crawling like it's 2005: you can lay on your back or side to fire. To the goofy flailing your dude does when you do a dive off of a ledge that's tall enough for fall damage and he realizes he's gonna faceplant and it's gonna hurt.

imo the game has been kept largely under wraps. media and impressions for it beyond a few very light trailers only dropped mid january, and both sony and arrowhead have been pretty sly. these days i kind of think that's one of the keys to successfully launching a live service game, it can't be oversold or be in everyone's heads so long they decide they're actually not interested. not only do you not want to give people too many reasons to change their mind before launch but you don't want to divulge too much of what your game is doing lest some other studio grab the idea and preempt your release. add to that the difficulty of scaling up and the fact that arrowhead is a small studio that's been plugging away and refining this for 8 years and you have kind of a perfect storm. good on them for lassoing the hurricane, now they just need to stay on the saddle

Alright I joined a Suicide Mission but it turns out the mission owner was just farming robot defence missions. Four mortar calldowns and goes AFK. It nets experience and medals quickly but it's boring as. There's two bugs here - defence missions being way too easy and four identical calldowns. Snore

I hope this kind of thing actually gets addressed. Warframe neglected to hit the boring farming for quick rewards and eventually became all farm all the time. Hopefully this lot can put having a good game above maintaining a skinner box
