Black Thursday was a disaster, plain and simple.
We lost too many good people, too many planes.
We can't let that kind of tragedy happen again.

the idea that a globally interconnected world prevents wars because no one would ever want to cut themselves off from global trade stops working the moment that principle gets weaponized: if nations actively start getting cut off from trade as a punishment, then they (and those that recognize the danger of such sanctions) will begin to circumvent the global system, and once secondary or even tertiary networks of trade begin to exist, then suddenly you don't have a globally interconnected world anymore and instead have gone back to competing blocs of power and spheres of influence.

Something interesting that has been worming it's way through the think tanks and showed itself with the Iran's secondary sanctions is there has been a low and steady beat to start placing sanctions on central Asian countries because they do business with Russia, China, and Iran.

There's a conspiracy theory that the advanced body armour argument was actually a sneaky political back-door excuse for a better & longer ranged round to deal with future autonomous/semi-autonomous scouting or surveillance ground drones. Sure, you can just armour the drones, but that'll make them heavier & less able to navigate awkward terrain, and/or more expensive if you use exotic materials for light-weight armour capable of resisting 6.8mm. Plus the hardware scanning devices & software needed for full autonomous ground navigation in tricky terrain are still fairly fragile to shock & vibrations (without costly hardening of key systems), so a heavier round would be more effective. The fancy Sig optic will help identify & allow engagements of such drones at a longer range than 5.56mm.

I hope that isn't real because it's stupid as gently caress

it isn't by any actual statute, but Milei, being an actually deranged person, might not understand that his country stands in the Far Southern Atlantic, which might be the loophole never considered

and if we had an actual left-wing party with teeth on the helm of this country, I suppose we would be calling Bolivia, Venezuela, Colombia, Chile (questionable chance however) and Uruguay to lean hard against the mere suggestion of it

NATO basically just means you're being folded in to the official American empire periphery rather than just being purely a resource colony at this point, I guess. Though that doesn't really work since Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea are all in that club and aren't in NATO.

One of the parties will give up on the Falklands so the hegemony can strengthen in South America. Having USA bases on continental South America would be a huge get and would allow easy access to Bolivia and Chile.

Again, basing this on playing Americas Army and everyone eventually figuring out that the maps had very high ceilings and the way the Unreal engine worked with how they programmed 40mm grenades and RPG-7 rockets, they would eventually come back down. So we spent a hell of a lot of time learning how to line up what were called "dropshots", where you used underslung M203s and sometimes even RPG-7s as mortars, to great effect. Usually you'd only win a game with it once and everyone would wise up, but the area denial value was still immense.
lol on bridge people knew the travel time so well they'd hit the spot between enemy spawn and the midpoint right as the other team would be reaching it entirely blind probably 3-4x beyond visibility fog

then people got wise to that and people who were really proficient started doing double tap/delayed shots to catch people anticipating the standard, reminds me of the dust2 awp door timing meta

We did dropshots from spawn on timing for area denial on Mountain Pass, SF Oasis, and SF Recon with 203s. SF Oasis also had a direct fire timed blind RPG shot and SF Recon had 2 RPG timed dropshots from spawn. Some other teams also used timed dropshots on Radio Tower but they were so easy to avoid and didn't actually impact the other teams ability to do anything so we never bothered.

We also had blind SAW fire right at the start of a round for area denial on Mountain Pass, Mountain Ambush and MOUT McKenna and timed blind M16 fire in Tunnel defense side about 17 seconds in.

That's not even getting into all the tricknades and prepared blind fires to support an attack on so many maps.

It was always very funny to go up against a team which wasn't aware of these and they'd just get shredded without anyone even seeing anyone else.
