WE LOVE SHOOTING GAMES!

Fun Shoe
Being from Akron, it feels kinda wrong to make an AI cover of a DEVO song, but here we are: Jocko Homo (Live Cover)

This one come out as a happy accident. I was trying to get a sermon-esque generation of the "God made man" part, but one of them was musical. I thought it sounded really good and extended it to do a different part of the song. I kept extending, making the rest of the song in different chunks, then mashed everything together in order in Audacity. The finished product is impressive. The little aside and embellishments are really blowing me away. Friends and family couldn't believe it was AI, and honestly, even though I made the drat thing, I can hardly believe it.

And since I'm posting, I may as well throw up the dumb sermons I ended up making:

No God But Godzilla

My God, What Have I Done?

:argh: Using Udio to create music and vocals for a song I've written myself, and it was getting pretty close to what I had in my head - until I needed to change a word in one of the prompts, which meant going back to my first decent result and working from it again. None of the new generations have been anywhere near as good as what I made before, and they're actively getting worse the more attempts I make - stuttery vocals, bizarre drum patterns, and a total failure to match the tempo of the earlier parts of the song. One version even switched from a female vocalist to male. :wtc:

I had lots of downtime today and got a little carried away making 20 tracks based on this google doc a friend sent me that was apparently scraped from a songwriting forum. The first few are short generations, and there's two versions of #16. I think #4, 7, 16B and 18 all turned out better than I expected given the source material.

Spoilers: the lyrics are all pretty awful.

A few others I've made:

Solo Serenade, aka The Five Finger Tango

Snip-Snap!

A nursery rhyme song about OJ Simpson as told/sung by a drunken old woman:
https://www.udio.com/songs/kKw87awUNVu515ECjJUXCD
I prompted for a kazoo, but it just hilariously inserted the words toot-toot-toot-toot-toot into the lyrics

In Udio? I didn't have any trouble getting it to use them in lyrics.

Try adding "vulgar" as a tag - I noticed it was in the list when I checked 'view track'.

Udio had added even more features today

quote:

Hi everyone! We know that organizing your extensions can be challenging so we are excited to launch our first version of track tree history. If you select "Show Track History" from the track dropdown, you can see a folder like tree view with every track connected to the selected track, both where it originated from and its descendants. When you generate tracks related to the current tree you are viewing, they should automatically populate into the page.

You can also select "Show Generation Tree" on the top right of the My Creations page to nest any visible tracks on that page into the condensed tree view. With the new page size dropdown next to the previous / next buttons you can adjust how many tracks are visible, to make it easier to show the tracks you need. The My Creations tree also works with tracks displayed through the search filter.

In addition we have rolled out some Ui fixes, which should address some problems with scrolling on mobile, and some elements being non-interactive on desktop (if these problems persist please let us know).

This is just the first step towards more powerful tools for managing your creations, so let us know if anything isn't working as expected (it may have some difficulty connecting tracks with a deleted parent)

We have also been making a bunch of updates to our servers in preparation for new features that will be coming very soon. We hope the disruption to your creation has been minimal, and can't wait to share with you what we have been working on!

It seems like they're racing ahead of Suno.ai in terms of quality and capabilities. Unless Suno v4 is a massive leap in sound quality and interface design, it's going to be left in the dust.

[edit]
And they just added two more major changes

quote:

Hi everyone, we've been monitoring your feedback and have a few more updates for you:

We've increased the track length limit to 15 minutes - so you can make your prog epics and extended trance mixes 🎵

We've also increased the context length for extensions, from 30 seconds previously to 2 minutes. This means Udio can "see" more of your track when generating an extension. In practice it means you can reference and repeat audio from further away in the track, and will help you achieve 🎉 consistent choruses 🎉

Please keep the feedback coming, and let us know if you have any issues with these features in particular

[edit 2]
They also just announced they're adding 200 credits to everyone's accounts so they can make more tunes with the new changes.

I tried for something Pink Floyd-like, by writing the hippie-est lyrics I could think of. After a few generations ended up with a snippet of psychadelic British Blues instead.

The latest update allowed me to add intros to songs that didn't already have it. Some of the new features would make it easier to make leitmotifs, too, which were technically kinda possible before but wow it took some weird workarounds. I wish I had started this now, after the update. But oh well,

udio has been driving me insane by constantly giving me moderation errors on 90% of my extensions

it's ridiculous, I'm using original lyrics and simply extending from tracks that it already approved :bang:

it's absolutely killing my ability to create with this, especially because it happens AFTER generating the track so it takes forever just to know I have to try again

I have submitted feedback to them about it, I really hope they tone down their stupid moderation

edit: I logged in with a new account and it seems to be mostly better, guessing this is one of those stupid things where the more the asinine moderation flags you the more sensitive it gets

I had it flag an instrumental extension once. There’s definitely something fucky with it.

I may be the only person to have even tried this, but I’ve also noticed that Suno is way better than Udio at pronouncing Esperanto. It doesn’t seem to know how to pronounce accented letters at all. Weirdly, “$GENRE, esperanto vocals about $TOPIC” generates mostly-correct lyrics, so at least part of the process gets it.
