Something I haven’t seen discussed about this today is that the Supreme Court like Robert’s and Gorsuch was talking about “writing a rule for the ages”. It’s kinda crazy to me because I thought they were not supposed to legislate from the bench and that something like this would need a constitutional amendment but they seem to have nakedly dispensed that and I guess they are just going to make up rules for presidential immunity even though it’s not talked about anywhere in law or the constitution.

I think part of the appeal of the democrats to a lot of people is that they do try to respect the democratic process somewhat. Like, that's a good thing. I'm glad they aren't trying to overturn elections. The filibuster can gently caress off however, I feel like that's going to happen in the next few years. Ensuring that his J6 and stolen documents cases get pushed well past the election was, and in that regard, the conservative members of the court are going to do him a solid. As amusing as this hush money case has been, it’s small potatoes. Trump isn’t in any serious danger of receiving prison time even if he is found guilty, and none of the hogs, hog-curious, or poo poo-eating “it’s time to give the other guy a chance” centrists are going to be fazed by the outcome. Trump only goes away if we defeat him at the ballot box, and while I would rather be in Biden’s position than Trump’s, there’s any number of stupid loving snafus that could tip the election to agent orange.
