alansmithee posted:Most dudes in this thread don't want to admit it but Earl is legit better at rapping than 90% (or more) of the rappers that get talked about here. It's much cooler to play suburban gangsta and pretend you're "hard" listening to some generic-rear end no talent trap dude when you wanna get back at your parents for grounding you than it is to listen to something where the lyrics are actually intelligible. Also OF occasionally talks about rape of white women which everyone knows is bad #socialjustice, but shooting black people and contributing to the degradation of urban environments is totally cool (and will help keep property prices down when you're ready for some good ol' fashion gentrification) Yeah, my last post may have come across as confirmation-seeking but that's just my nature, I like Earl and I'm not too fussed if everyone hates. I hadn't been following his situation closely and thought he was still on hiatus so was a bit surprised when there was a new track on YouTube.

Haha, oops. Neglected to say, saw Nas at O2 arena in London, Tuesday past. Glad to see he'd sold out the entire arena. Iggy Azalea and 2Chainz as supporting acts, replacing Meek Mill - which was a shame because I'd heard good things about Meek and wanted to see what he's like. I thought Nas would be one of those artists that may be well respected in his field but would not be a great performer but I thought his performance was great. Funny little dig at 2Chainz, when during an interlude in One Mic, he shouted "Shout out to 2Chainz, all I need is one".

They're two of my favs so would love to see that come out, not 100% but I think 'Angels' was meant to be on that album but went on Born Like This instead.

To be honest this is me a few years ago but about Lil Wayne, who I now realise is good but I'm still not a fan.

alansmithee posted:Also DOOM's my fav rapper of all time, and I'd consider everything he did outside of that JJ Doom project really good to amazing. The Danger Doom album is kinda junk at first, until you realize that he's loving making some dope sounding raps about cornball poo poo and it's like "this dude can literally rap about anything" (he pretty much says as much on "vats of urine"). Born Like This was super good but it kinda came from nowhere after he had dropped off the face of the earth. Also he handled most of the production which on one hand is good because his production is nice but sucked if you were a fan of his since it was all special herbs stuff that's been out since around 2000, so it sounded more like a mixtape even though a lot of those beats hadn't been rapped over before. I was listening to Born Like This in the car last week and completely forgot his verse on Gazillion Ear is basically 4 minutes long.
