"Hate" is strong, but this is why I don't particularly gush over Alex Ross. The only exception being his Spider-Man, because it is legit kind of scary. But ask me to choose between Ross and Max Sarin, and I'll pick the latter every day

Art by Stephen Platt, story by Rob Liefeld, script by Jeff Loeb.

It was originally a Captain America book Rob Liefeld was putting together in the mid-90s. When Marvel was facing bankruptcy and low-balled Liefeld as a result, he reached out to original Captain America creator Joe Simon and Roz Kirby, widow of the Cap's other creator, Jack Kirby. Simon and Kirby had created a Cap 2.0 character named Fighting American back in the 1950s, but it didn't really go anywhere. Liefeld licensed the character, tweaked the art for the Captain America book and released this two issue miniseries.

It's... fine by mid-90s standards.

Funny thing is early 90s Mark Pacella. Even as an X-Force loving little poo poo who thought Liefeld was pretty rad stuff, even then when I saw Pacella imitating Rob I was all "that is nasty that is dog poo poo"

he only wore this getup for like 6 pages before his broken arm healed. Only as I got much older did I realize how loving weird that run got, complete with Spidey and the Punisher taking on a military academy commandant or some poo poo who was trying to replace the dollar with cocaine.
