yamdankee posted:Has anyone tried the Siri inspired Iris? Still being improved upon, but it seems to work pretty well. I used this over the weekend on my rooted Thunderbolt. It kept crashing on me on my 2nd attempt to say something to it. It was weird, it would work for the first time, I would hit the button to say something else, and it would just loop and loop over and over again. I wasn't able to get out of the program either - had to pop the battery out. Strange.

I'm having issues with WidgetLocker. I bought/downloaded it when I found out I can have the ICS lockscreen on my Thunderbolt. So I set everything up, and it LOOKS great, but it's just super clunky. It takes a while for it to unlock, and turning the screen on/off takes a longer time for it to come up. I know it's because of WL, because when I removed it, everything went back to normal. For what it's worth, I'm running CM7.1.

This doesn't happen with the stock lockscreen so I'm at a loss. Running a version of CM7 on Thunderbolt but it's happened with different ROMs as well. Had this same problem. Switched to the latest SoaB Sense ROM and it works $$$.

So, I'm going to be getting a Galaxy Nexus whenever the gently caress it comes out, but I've got my current Thunderbolt rooted. I've got Titanium Backup (paid for), but I didn't purchase it through the Market -- I got a .txt file on my SD with it that acts as the license key. How will this work with the GNex if it doesn't have any removable storage?

The one thing I hate about Opera Mobile is the menu takes up like half the screen. It just seems weird, and not very Android like. I, too, am holding out for the ICS browser, but using Opera Mobile at the moment.

x-posting from Android device thread: Well, Google Wallet failed on me last night, just as I had feared that it would! I had added an add'l $20 to the Google prepaid card bringing my prepaid amount to $30. I then got a bunch of poo poo and walked up to the register. The clerk rang everything up, and gave me the total. I unlocked my phone (VZW GN) and placed the back of the phone up to the PayPass thingy. I felt a magnetic pull, and thought Wallet would popup and ask me for my PIN but alas! Tried it a couple more times until I got frustrated and just used my debit card. Couple of things to note: I swapped the battery yesterday to my new extended battery from VZW. That could've done it. I also noticed that I had low signal (3G) when I was in the store, so that could've been it as well, but I don't know. Just reporting my findings.

Between all the phone changing and root fuckery I do it's a pain in the rear end to get it all set up and going again. If you're looking at doing strictly fuel, I'd recommend Fuelly (https://www.fuelly.com). It's a web-based MPG calculator, with a mobile interface (http://m.fuelly.com). I used to use aCar as well, but it was loving annoying. Fuelly is cool though.

What do you guys recommend for web-based note taking apps that sync with Android? Bonus if it has a Chrome extension. I'm currently using Evernote, but it's...too much for what I need, if that makes sense. Plus the Evernote Chrome extension doesn't really like to work for me.

However, with this one, it's clean as poo poo, and really looks nice.

I'm trying to download the latest CM9 nightly on my GNex using ROM Manager, and the download keeps failing. It's been doing this for several nightlies now. Is there something wrong with the app, or is it the server? I've tried clearing the app cache & data to no avail.

Since we're on the topic of calendar widgets... My wife uses LauncherPro on her CM7'd Incredible 2, and I'm looking to replace the calendar widget that LP uses with something else. What she's looking for is a calendar widget that allows a month view, and when you click on a day, it launches the calendar app for that particular day and she can add from there. Current LP calendar widget switches to agenda view for the particular day when the month-view day is clicked.

Some people were having an issue with pictures not showing up in the gallery that was caused by a recent Rom Manager update that put a nomedia file in the root of your sdcard. I'm looking for a particular task app. I'm a new homeowner, and I'd like to be reminded to do things around the house on a monthly basis (check the furnace filter, tighten screws, whatever). Sure, yeah, I can make a new google calendar appointment, but as soon as the day turns over, that 'task' is gone. What I'm looking for is: - Ability to do recurring tasks (weekly, monthly, yearly, etc) - Syncs to a web client (Google tasks?) - Has a widget so it's ALWAYS on my home screen I'm currently using 'Tasks' which is fantastic, but it doesn't have a recurring feature. Any idea?

Jerk McJerkface posted:Is there a sketch app like Paper for Android? Something dead simple? Also, is there any app I can use to lock out the onscreen buttons? My two year old son playing with the Nexus 10, when using Skitch he'll always bump the home button, and exit the application by accident. It'd be nice if there was an app (or ROM) I guess, that disables or locks out the home button when it's running in the background. I'm not sure how that would work, but it'd be nice to have. Dunno about the sketch app, but with CM 10.1 (maybe previous ones as well), you're able to use an "Extended desktop" through holding down the power button and toggling it. It will make you Home/Back/Recent buttons disappear, and extend the desktop/app to the full screen.
