My new favourite item on IMDB: Revealing mistakes: They actually made this movie.

Also fun to look at the Budget/Box Office ratios starting from "After Earth" to present.

Michael Caine’s quote from Jaws 4 is pretty good and in topic. He’s never seen the movie but he’s seen the house it built.

He was in so many movies, good, bad, or indifferent, that MTV's "Remote Control" had a category called Leave Out Michael Caine: they would list the real cast of a movie plus Caine, and the contestant would have to figure out what the movie was.

Since that The Crossing poster came up again, I just want to throw it out there that "From the network that brought you LOST" is hilarious. Very few of any networks, and particularly non-cable networks, can just use their own name as part of the draw.

Well, does anyone give a poo poo when posters say "From the producers of $movie" ?

Like, not the director, or the writer, or the actors, of something you may have liked, the money managers.

The 2000s were "remember the 80s" just like right now is "remember the 90s". And the 80s were "remember the 50s". And boy oh boy are we going to be angry when it's "remember the 00s" in a few years and we have to deal with loving and only-semi-ironic tributes to frosted tips and Nickelback.

Nope. The 70s started it all with 50s nostalgia (American Graffiti, Happy Days, etc. ). The 80s had retro 60s bits (Paisley Underground, neo-hippies, general Boomer nostalgia for their childhoods, Wonder Years). 90s had some 70s throwbacks mostly in music. There was a pretty well established rule of a 20 year gap.

The one industry not to follow that gap is fashion, which tries to bring back the 70s every couple of years because they've run out of original ideas. Heck the biggest trend now is flood pants for guys and ripped pants for girls, which is some straight up 1987 bullshit.
